Gardner. Gallon. Results.
I'm hoping Fitz knocks all the webs out this week. Still looks a little ginger out there. Come back hard for ND
Woooo Gallon. Got the one back that was taken from him
(He looks weird in 21)
Now DG is warming up. He'll be fine - lucky to have him
Awesome throw!!! Touchdown!!!
Not sure if Green is healthy to play but we need to try a more physical back
Heiko is right. He doesn't trust the OL out there. Physicality isn't the problem. Still scarred from last year.
Gallon is so good.... if we've got one first team Big 10 player not named Lewan, it oughta be him. Hope he gets his props this year.
Beautiful throw and catch.
GREAT footwork by Devin.
Making enough plays to overcome our mistakes.
We are winning on talent, not execution. That can't be replicated all season.
that execution can be fixed, a lack of talent can't. Just working out the kinks.
Making enough plays to overcome our mistakes.
To make things better, temple just scored a touchdown on ND.To hell with them...
Gedeon has had a couple big sticks on kick coverage already
We get to see some Derrick Green and Deveon Smith. See how they fare.
It up D!!
Hmm, not impressed with our four-man rush today.
same game? The line has gotten into the backfield at a good clip, including on a couple of three man rushes. It could be a little better, but it certainly has been better than last year so far.
That is tighter :)
If I see one more different shade of "maize" I'm going to have an aneurysm...
WOO! We made them pay for their predictable pass routes.
three times in a row throwing at the same guy can get dicey
Finally got one. He's flirting with picks the entire game
Too many penalties... Reminds me of the Lions
It's safe to say our performance won't be nearly as disgusting as Sparty this weekend
...play at this level won't beat any but the weakest Big10 teams. Record barely bowl eligible at this level of play on both sides. All as Brian & team told us would be "worry if..." on our side; luckily for the W-L record an undermanned Central team just keeps losing more key men
first game, excecution is not going to be perfect. The talent is certainly there to win the Big Ten, just working out the kinks early in the season.
They are young.
Agreed, not worried right now. A lot of mental errors going on costing some yards. Not too bad, first game jitters and all.
This is probably just a case of playing down to our opponent's level...
I'm not really worried just yet. I also don't agree that this level of play won't beat other B10 teams. Have you been watching these games? The B10 is pretty awful. We still need to be a lot better on both sides of the ball, but this is pretty much a preseason game in many ways.
It's weird that we're going into halftime up 35-6 and I feel like we haven't played well. Maybe expectations were a bit too high, I don't know. Am I a bad fan? I should be happier, I think.
...against a badly overmanned CMU, now further overmanned.
They're better then this, they know it and so do we. Defense is playing a great "bend but don't break" game and special teams looks good. The offense hopefully gets its act together next week. They'll need there A+ game for UTL II.
Yay we actually play kick coverage this year
Man is Devin smooth on the run. He looks like he's settling in nicely now.
The kick coverage is always meeting the ball carrier just before the 20, you have to love that.
End of 2nd, 35-6 Michigan.
Nobody ever executes well the first game.
board is over the top at times. The excecution has definatly been sloppy and mutiple things have got to cleaned up before Big Ten play, but I think it says something about this team's talent level when performing badly equates to a 35-6 halftime lead regardless of the opponent.
Relax, the talent is clearly there to win the Big Ten, execution can be fixed. This is the most talented Michigan team since the Carr Era.
There's something about the internet that seems to do that to people. Every team's game threads are always pretty negative.
Obviously a great result. The two concerns I have is Devin's 2 picks vs. a MAC squad . And lack of domination from the O Line. Minor gripes , but that's what you get when it's 35 - 6 at half . Wish I would have bet that -31.5
So, it has been going well - 243 yards of offense for Michigan on 33 plays, good for 7.36 yards per carry. That makes sense - 7.7 YPA passing and 7.2 YPC rushing.
Devin Gradner and Fitz are leading the game on the ground - 96 of our 143 yards rushing come from those two. Devin is 8/13 for 100 yards, and as expected, the favorite targets are Jeremy Gallon and Drew Dileo.
We've given up 139 yards to CMU on 35 plays, or a hair under 4 yards per play.
