Anyone who wonders what "happened" on the Dee Hart decomitt needs to look no further than our pages.   We are what "happened" since Dee Hart "comitted"..

We must assume in this hand-held, wi fi in your car world that a highly recruited athlete, especially an out of state kid, is going to read up on what the fans are saying about him and his new team.

what do you suppose Dee Hart saw?   about a day of "Hello, Dee Hart" and weeks of "Here comes Jim Harbaugh".  The more "we" insisted that Harbaugh is coming, the more incentive we gave Dee Hart to run to one of his other, more stable suitors.   Saban just blew a 24 point lead at home in a rivalry game, but I dont hear Alabama fans calling for his head.  Maybe they dont write so good, maybe they just got a better attitude.

So now that we have scared off one top recruit, it is time for us to clean up our act, and recognize that a "fan" site does not make it a dumping ground for the bile of a spoiled alumni base.

The fact of the matter is that our embattled coach has produced a player-- not the most hightly ranked recruit-- who just won Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year as a (true) sophomore.   Nobody talks about finding "another Pat White" now that we have Denard playing in this RichRod offense.

Denard Robinson is the most electrifying player in college football.   He set a record this year with more than 50 individuyal rushes of more than 10 yards, and he threw for nearly 2500 yards.......yet Denard Robinson is by all accounts, a humble, hard working guy who always brings creidti back to the team, and who teared up when he was named team MVP.

So let me propose a new code of conduct for this site:   WWDS      What Would Denard Say?  Keep it positive or keep it to yourself.   Let's try to be Michigan fans, not angry critics who dont even donate to the U.

If its just angry stuff, keep it to yourself.  And remember that your rabble rousing can indeed scare off recruits.........and you will blame RR for that, too.

While I don't believe that what we say on here is all of what scared off Dee, I'm sure that this combined with the fact that all the media outlets are saying that he is out pretty much did it.  I think the fact that Bama was there at his school this week also contributed.  But we, as fans, need to unite and show recruits that we support Michigan Football and its current representatives.

Easily disprovable. There were Bama sites calling that the worst loss in Crimson Tide history.

If you think any SEC fan base has a more reasoned attitude than Michigan, you aren't paying attention.

Well to be fair, even though Bama had high expectations coming into this season, they did just win a national championship last year, and went undefeated in the regular season the year before that, so I think that might have to do with Saban not in the hot seat.

I don't think reading message boards is a  major part recruit's decision process.  Reading the main stream media and DB non committal is the biggest issue.  I wouldn't want to committ to a school where I didn't know who the coach would be on the day of my first class.

Maybe... but some recruits, players and their parents have admitted to frequenting this blog, as well as some other places... so there is some truth to it.

Bottom line, support our players, coaches, and each other.  Be positive.  There are good things coming to us at Michigan, just need to hold on a little longer.

would be a problem for Dee. Most people on here stumping for RR's ouster have lately gotten negged into Bolivia and have crawled deep into the woodwork until things die down. Now if Dee reads MLive, he probably thinks we may as well blow up the whole program and start over with the closest blood descendant of Bo.

Maybe this is just a case of Ha-Ha doing what we hoped Dee could- recruit his buddy to come to school with him. Maybe Alabama just infused the intended business major with some startup capital. At this point, it's all speculation.

I agree for the most part with your assessment of things here, but this site is a relative safe haven for Rodriguez support when compared to most of the other Michigan blogs and Michigan fans in general. I'd say the Mgoblog community is in the back of the mob when it comes to the growing number of pitchfork and torch wielders.

I don't think it's possible at this point to know the bases for this particular recruit's decision making.  Unless you have a citation that links his decisions to internet message boards.

Also, "clean up our act" looks like a platitude to me.  In fact, most of the proscriptive stuff here looks like platitudes.

However, optimism is a good thing and I don't mean to discourage it.

Gentlemen, cheers - both of you.

I would not have complained had either of you opined that "optimism is a good thing" is perhaps the clearest example of a platitude in this thread.

Just one comment from Dave Brandon would drown all of the bitching from the fans, the media and everybody. Is Rich Rod in or is he out. That's all Dee and the other recruits want to hear.

Hayterz would be aimed at Brandon.  Don't you see it coming if RR is retained?  We will have divided fanbase until the team has an 11-1 season.  I hope Coach can stand it and it doesn't kill him.

"I dont hear Alabama fans calling for his head.  Maybe they dont write so good, maybe they just got a better attitude."

Or......maybe they're coming of a 9-3 season and are one year removed from a MNC.  Winning cures a lot of things.

Of course, this site can be blamed for just about everything that involves praising/scaring off recruits, praising/knocking current players, and feeding the Dnews/Freep/Espn/AA.com with ideas for pointless stories for which they never cite the source

Not sure this is diary material, though.  Not that I'm the ultimate arbiter of these things, but I think most of us could agree that, when in doubt, the following guideline holds:

Original research, data analysis, interviews with players or coaches, press announcements, and other high-value-added material make good diaries.  Links, reactions to breaking news, and opinion pieces should be directed to MGoBoard.

EDIT: OP has been moved.  I'll leave my comment for posterity.

We did nothing.  David Brandon openly invited speculation about RR's job status by refusing to commit to him (while enthusiastically committing to John Beilein for basketball).

Yeah wow come on man. They aren't calling for Saban's head because he literally won the MNC last year. If RR won the MNC last year and 2 more games this year people wouldn't be calling for his head either. SEC fans in general are significantly worse than Michigan fans. Do you realize some LSU fans are trying to kick Les Miles to the curb despite winning the MNC in 2007 and doing reasonably well since?
