This is maaaaybe premature there, ESPN. Maryland #1 FWIW.
Come on, I was at least expecting the gif of katy perry on snl
OK, I'm now a Katy Perry fan. Never listened to her music but I'm now a fan.
wish I could give that a +2
Its like bloody Christmas
Wow. Thank you sir, this is my new wallpaper. :))))))))
Curse those rockin' tits.
I think I watched this 14 times before I finally moved further along in the thread.
Tom Goss was the man. We sat on the 50, for ND in 1997, and he walked right by us, and he oooozzzed success. It was awesome. He was 6'5 of complete failure. Thank god for Martin. He fixed the shit that loser left. Bitch at Martin all you want, at least he wasn't Goss.
But the Halo was awesome, complete with musical notes for "The Victors."
Oh no, wait, it was a hideous idea.
So since your whole post makes it sound like it's a forgone conclusion that RichRod is gone. I take it your in the Harbaugh camp. Good luck with that hope it doesn't ruin your new year if your wish doesnt come true.
If it does?
I am honestly on the fence. I can see a lot of improvement in the offense that will only get better. But a defense that is horrible and people are praying will get better. My thought is if Brandon thinks the D will improve he keeps Rich Rod if not he is gone and Harbaugh or whoever it is gets there shot. At this point its a crap shoot as to what is the better choice.
I was actually a HUGE defender and supporter of RR. I cant even tell you how many time I defended him to old school UM fans who hated him. If he is coach next year, I will be pulling for him and the team non-stop. I dont think he has every been given a fair shake, but that's not a reason to keep him.
I will always support the coach. However, I think his time is up. Some of it is his fault, some of it isn't. Whether we want him here or not, he has looked like a bad fit and especially now the pressure is on. No wins against MSU or OSU in 3 years will do that. Even though, we all have reasons he has struggled, 90% of the world doesn't know and doesn't care. This is the Big 10, This is Michigan. You just have to win. 89......Bottom Line.
I will always support the coach. However, I think his time is up.
Some of it is his fault, some of it isn't.
This is sort of fun. And it is impossible to be on the wrong side!
There is nothing logically inconsistent there. I feel the same way. Contrary to what some want to claim, not believing in RR's ability to win a championship does not automatically make you a "hater." If my son were on a sports team, I'd cheer like crazy for him, but I don't have to automatically think he's the best player. RR is part of the Michigan football family, so I cheer for him. If Brandon decides to retain RR, I'll root my heart out for him next season. But I don't have to blindly believe he's the best man for the job.
developments that have ever occurred in the english language IMO. Talk about an all purpose word that low IQ types can use to shut off all rational, critical conversation immediately. There is actually a way to discuss pros and cons about any subject rationally, including RR, but some asshat pulls out that word and everything devolves. Ugh.
Who says Harbaugh is going to beat MSU and let alone OSU? mSU is no longer the walkover that they were for decades and OSU is just plainly way better than us. I can easily see him losing at least 5 of those first six games against the rivals and then suddenly he's on the hot seat too...
Like Jim Tressel and Mark Dantanio, Harbaugh gets it - no matter what the monkey said, the past and the rivalries matter at Michigan.
Harbaugh's whole issue with academics was that Jim wanted to be a History major, and Bo made him do General Studies. Jim Harbaugh embraces and uses the past - and that is important to many Michigan fans, especially the inner circle. So, I see no reason why Jim would treat OSU any different than he did USC.
My point: if Jim Harbaugh comes to Michigan, there is no way OSUs streak goes on for five more years. Every OSU alumn I know, knows this and outwardly hopes we keep Rich until we've missed on Harbaugh.
That monkey story at the first press conference, and firing the entire staff probably did more to unravel Rich Rodriguez than anything else. (Want to know why Lloyd Carr hasn't outwardly shown much support for Rich - he fired everyone. I wouldn't support someone who fired everyone I had hired either.)
Rich threw out the past, and in the process made a lot of enemies. This equals a bad fit.
3-9 and 5-7 and all the losses to MSU and OSU are what "unraveled" RR. The off-the-field stuff only is "important" because of the losses. If RR had gone 9-3 and 7-5 with victories against MSU and OSU, Harbaugh wouldn't even be a topic, nor would who RR hired and fired, nor his monkey stories, or any of that crap.
Coach Rod made some mistakes, but you are blaming him for firing the coaches under Carr. Carr expected this to happen, which is why he got them new contracts. This has been noted before.
Also, interesting, you complain about him firing everyone. What did you expect. I guess you are ok with Coach Rod telling GERG to keep all of Rod's people instead of getting his own staff. Look how that has worked out.
Ah - but it is not that you do it, it is how you do it. You don't bash a fan base steeped in tradition and history in the face with "it doesn't matter, it's in the past" on the first day.
The the announcement that he was "firing" everyone, and then interviewing and maybe rehiring some, was sure to hit the press with Rich Rod fire's everyone headlines. How many old guard and Athletic Department enemies did he make in that act--enemies that would later happilly pass on any negative information to prying yellow journalists outside the fort?
While we're at it, you can't tell me we didn't have a better linebacker coaching under Lloyd.
Yes, his W/L record sucks / is historically bad for Michigan, but how much more support could he have for a 4th year given the reasonable explanation of offensive improvement, and all the attrition, recruiting non-arrivals, and injuries on defense?
I agree with you that he does bare responsibility for the way it was done. Perception overtakes reality, and perception was that he didn't know what Michigan was about. I wish Martin or people in the AD would have helped him with this(maybe they were, I have no idea). It's like he should have had a handler. This is all damage that may have been averted and has indirectly affected now just his W/L record here but the program as a whole.
As far as the coaches, absolutely, I wish he kept more guys around. But, when you hire someone, you give them full power. Then, there are no excuses. You ride with the horses that brought you.
Is if the coach isn't posting up the "THIS IS MICHIGAN, I've been watching them for 112 years" wins in his first 2-3 years, we fire the coach and move on?
That sounds suspiciously like Notre Dame.
Fear is the dark room where the Devil develops his negatives.
Wow, that actually sounds like something Gary Busey would say. Throw in some oddly-improvised acronym and I think you have it nailed.
Earlier today you didn't have a Gary Busey avatar. I thought that was a serious oversight. I'm glad you have rectified the situation. + 1.
That made me laugh like a fool. My wife is staring at me like I'm having a stroke.
It's obvious that Gary isn't pleased with you trying to steal his thunder. Btw, Busey is crazy as Hell. I haven't laughed this hard in a long time.
Gave me a siezure.
edit: now this is all out of order, and this comment doesn't make sense.
I don't want to see eternity.
Holy Shit that's funny.
Gary, I love you on Entourage. Keep up the good work.
but what does the 'CC' mean?
It was brought up in a board post earlier today as a label for Coaching Change topics, to be used like OT.
Unfortunately, like the OT label, this seems to have given people the false idea that these posts are perfectly welcomed on the board and that as long as they are labeled they do not clutter up the board and are not a waste.
I guess the CC designation protects you from being negged by Those Who Don't Want To Talk About Harbaugh At All -- they have been warned after all. But among those of us who are open to the idea, if your post is asinine enough you might still get dinged so you really should have something new to say -- or at least something that hasn't been said for at least a few days and bears repeating.
It may have given the said false idea, but guess what? With that in there you can now recognize, with certainty that it is a coaching change topic. Now, since it is recognizable, if you would not like to read or discuss it you can then bypass it without trouble. Novel, I know. Also, if you would prefer not to talk about a coaching change I would direct you to an Oregon, Boise State or TCU board. I bet they are not talking about coaching changes there.
When are people going to realize that it's not simply frustration with having to read all of these (mostly asinine) posts about the coaching change (as you've said, the CC tag shows clearly what the topic is about allowing anyone to bypass it)? It is that the multitude of posts that purport to be novel takes on a topic that has been hashed and rehashed by everyone and has been sufficiently covered by the AD push all other topics down on the board. What we are left with is a front page board filled with posts about the coaching change when really no one has any new information or insight and an abysmal signal-to-noise ratio.
Well, really, since apparently every thread is about it the same thing it really just replaces the one about the same thing at the bottom so it's really not a huge deal.
Let's be honest: this is the topic involving Michigan football right now. I get that it makes some of the diehard RR believers uncomfortable, but you have to accept that people are going to want to discuss the coaching situation. Don't be a baby about it. If you have other topics to discuss, by all means post them. If the front page is filled with CC stuff, that means that no other topic seems to be worthy of discussion.
Try six hundredth! Its really become f-ing ridiculous. Seriously. The fact of the matter are that (i) everyone has a damn opinion on the topic (including me); (ii) the opinions are in no way supported by any substantiated facts; (iii) the majority (?) of the MGoCommunity really does not care about these personal opinions. I, for one, do not kid myself and assume that people really care what my opinion on this subject is at this point.
If people must, why not start one Diary thread and then everyone who feels the need to weigh in and/or volunteer their opinion can do so in one location?
So, like, maybe, a singe daily "CC-Open Thread"?
You beat me to it!
You deserve every face palm and atomic bomb you get. It's not just that some of us don't want to discuss, it's that the people who do, have had 476 threads to do so. Why make another one?
I seriously want to know WHY MUST WE HAVE ANOTHER THREAD ON SOMETHING THAT HAS BEEN COVERED 500 TIMES.
Other things we don't need threads about:
-Jerome Bettis being from Detroit
-Brett Favre being a gunslinger
-Tim Tebow being Christian
I honestly don't understand all the snide comments. Maybe he wanted to discuss this situation and give his thoughts. Yes, there have been threads about it in the past. That doesn't mean people don't have new thoughts about the issue and/or want to discuss it. And don't tell me that you want him to go post in a thread that is 4 days old.
Also, he marked the thread "CC", which was invented today I know, but why would you actively click on it, and then post this in there? This isn't only directed at you, but all the comments trivalizing and degrading the OP for posting his thoughts. Seriously, don't read it or comment in it if it bothers you sooooo much.
Because we have to set some sort of standard. We do not need a thread by every MGOmember regarding their opinion on the matter. We should have one thread about the entire process. But no, there's like 200 special ed students on here and they all start their own thread and any real news gets shuffled away.
So you think the standard we should set is having every poster post videos of bombs and pictures of half naked women when there is a topic of interest that has been discussed before? How about we set the standard of just ignoring the thread if you don't like it?
Also, maybe you really think these posters are "special ed students", which I highly doubt, but fine. But please don't try to insult someone by calling them that or calling them the R-word. Its really not cool, and shows your lack of maturity and sensitivity.
His opinion is the same as about twenty other opinions I have read here recently.
This thread has been covered many times. But, it comes from passion. This is not a malicious post by a so called "special ed student". When it comes to the University and the football program specifically, I hope we all have the same passion. This black hole of not knowing is not good for an apprehensive fan base. Brandon's silence has only amplified it by 1000 times. I for one will live with either scenario. I like most fans and supporters just want this empty feeling to end, Go Blue!
I used protection.
Did you come up with this all by yourself?
Fire Brandon, make it a clean sweep.
if RR tears it up in the bowl game and dominates the opposition you think DB would fire him. I believe DB and think he will evaluate the staff at seasons end. Im not saying RR job is 100% safe i just think DB is going to due a fair and through evaluation of all coaches.
What if Michigan destroys the opposing bowl team and Stanford loses their bowl game by 28 pts? What if they both get blown out? I guess DB just hasn't decided yet. But I have to think that he's definitely not pleased and some major changes need to be made on the defensive side of the ball.
can harbaugh still be considered 'sexy' if someone bombs him in a BCS game?
Not only have there been literally 5+ threads about this exact topic over the past 2 days, but you also missed the possibility that DB is waiting for the results of the WVU NCAA investigation.
Also, what if he doesn't want to be a buzz-kill right before the holidays?
What if he wants to wait on RR's fate til he makes his New Year's resolution?
These threads are getting ridiculous.
What I don't get is that if you people don't want to discuss it why read it? Just move along. I don't read them all and don't bitch when a new one arises. But also when people that hate the 500 threads started on the same topic why do they have to all write the same comments on omg we already have this topic. No shit that's already been said.
Again move along if it doesn't interest you
is that the OP is suitably notified (chastened?) and thinks twice before posting moldy leftovers in the future.
A dim hope, but the motivation behind my post.
Just because you didn't find it intersting doesn't mean everyone I in your boat. It's a sports blog and I found it interesting. Great posts in the comments area get lost and overlook all the time. A new post about the same topic just ensures people who want to read it will. If you don't want to that's fine just go to the next post. Don't clog up his post by posting Things like that.
posts like his clog up the MGoBoard.
Kind of a vicious cycle, isn't it?
Very. sigh... No one wins
The opposite is also true. By constantly posting the same tired arguments time after time after time, this blog becomes clogged and loses value. The only person starting a new thread about the same thing posted in another thread is the same person who thinks their opinion is so important it needs to be front and center. News flash: I don't care about an unsubstantiated opinion. This blog is superior because of it's reliability. I want facts, not opinion. And if people persist on starting new threads seeped in their own unsupported personal opinion I will continue to respond with worthless drivel and pos bang all those that do the same. Call it an MGoUprising, if you will.
(which is usually a bad idea) and because of the wait I feel like either Brandon truly hasn't decided yet (he wants to see the bowl game or get more info), or he has decided to fire RR. I just can't possibly see why he would want to wait if he knows he will retain RR. Anyone have anything that can shine some light on this?
Check the 700 other threads started in the past 3 days. They might have something.
just put a gun in my mouth
We were getting married in ten minutes. My brothers and I were to stand at the altar and wait for my soon-to-be wife to come waltzing down the isle.
On our way from the waiting area to the altar, my youngest brother turns and says to me,
"Fuck it, let's just go. Just get in the car and drive."
He had the most serious look on his face. I love him for that look. I considered it. Honestly. But, alas, his look soon turned to a wry smile and I knew he wasn't serious.
So we continued on to the altar, where I met my bride, and we got hitched.
Now... I live in hell, and she and I talk about the same goddamned thing every day.
I dunno why I just thought about that. Huh.
As much as I hate to use tired, overused internet acronymns, LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLLOLOLOLO
So, hiring Harbaugh is a long term plan, but hiring RR was what? A temporary bridge to Harbaugh? RR was hired as a long term plan but people are unwilling to even give him the duration of his contract. Seems quite hypocritical to me.
I mean, I would agree with you, but maybe Brandon was never on board with the original hire.
Wasn't Brandon on the board that approved the hiring?
In my oh so insignificant opinion, hiring Harbaugh is a poor long term plan. He will coach in the NFL at some point. Who is a better long term canidate? I have no clue. Honestly if we fire RR and Harbaugh doesn't take the job (I think people are taking it for granted he would be offered and take it) then I don't know where you turn. Who else would be looking to jump ship? Maybe Chris Petersen? I guess he would be my second choice. I just don't see the hot prospects in average jobs that I saw the last time around. I mean you had Brian Kelly, RR, Greg Schiano, and even Harbaugh at that point(hindsight). Do you go after a Mike Gundy? I doubt he would take it. He has all the money in the world down there right now. I just don't see solid alternatives. If there is a firing, DB has to have harbaugh locked the fuck up.
I believe he is forty-something.
In my oh so insignificant opinion, hiring Harbaugh is a poor long term plan. He will coach in the NFL at some point.
Because college coaches routinely make successful transitions to NFL coaching positions?
Good call on using the "CC" designator, but facepalms and atomic bombs are coming
I agree, to an extent, that DB should announce it sooner if he intends to keep RR, but at least he's consistent.
I have to assume DB knows what he's doing, and this timetable is a result of a long thought out process. I believe he's addressed the concern over recruiting and such.
but I think I liked it better when it was written by Henning in the Det News.
I'd check your crystal ball's manufacturer's warranty.
balls, but that's only because of that freak, farm equipment accident..... DAMN YOU JOHN DEERE.....
the decision has been made and it was made back a couple weeks ago... I remember when dallas crawford and sammy watkins was on a visit and david brandon told them that coach rod will be the coach at michigan for a long time... i think watkins or crawford mention this to tom when he does his follow up on recruits visits. Im not sure how safe greg is but coach rod will still be the coach next year. This team is about to take off it just needs some changes on defense and this team is a top ten team.
Please be advised that you have violated the Prohibition on Coaching Change Opinions Act of 2010 (hereafter, the "Act"), profligated by Profitgoblue on November 30, 2010. In particular, you have violated Article 2(d) of the Act which states, in part: "Thou shalt not, under any circumstances, post a personal opinion with respect to whether or not Rich Rodriguez will be fired."
Please be further advised that, pursuant to Article 3 of the Act, the minimum fine for this violation is the loss of one (1) MGoPoint, with the maximum to be determined by the MGoCommunity.
Please be further advised that, pursuant to Article 5 of the Act, if you dispute the application of the Act to your thread/post, you have twenty-four (24) hours to "file" a formal written appeal by replying to this post. All appeals will be considered on their merits as soon as practical, unless deemed to be frivolous by Profitgoblue in his sole discretion.
Is this for real? lol. I thought you added the CC amendment?
Thats GOLD Jerry, GOLD.
Poop nuts and balls. Also, boobs.
I forget who the other one is. I like the cut of your jib, though.
I'd suggest smoke signals as a better way of informing brandon he's interested in the job.
I am not sure if we do talk about it here or in one of the other hundred threads. I honestly just couldn't keep up because there are so many. As for the OP's thoughts, I don't think they are completely out there. I am actually a Coach Rod supporter and I hope he comes back. But, as many have said, I think DB has had enough time to evaluate the program. I feel as Bo did with Gary that a coach should get at least 4 years. Let coach Rod ride with the horses he brought for next year. Whether that is to keep GERG, fine so be it.
Problem I have with the OP's assertion about Stanford getting to play in their bowl game and for our guys to play in our bowl game. Although, I think that is a great thought and our players deserve it. I would like to have our situation resolved sooner rather than later for the sake of recruiting and continuity for the future. I don't want to sound harsh, but if Harbaugh is going to be the coach, he should come in now. Sorry Stanford, I don't really care if you get riled up. Michigan is much more important. OK, I have given my rant and I trust DB has a bigger picture in mind than I can have.
He is secretly working for tUOS, and he knows this is the best way to torpedo Michigan's chances, not just for recruiting this season, but for the coming years.
Check that... Brandon hates America.
That would be a direct renege on the timetable he set at the start of the season.
... that "had we performed better, we wouldn't be talking about this now". Maybe he would have endorsed RR. To me he is just waiting to see how Michigan performs in the bowl game, after the 15 practices. 15 practices should be enough to re-emphasize fundamentals, healing of hurt players, game plan for the oponent, etc. I would expect a performance like the UConn game. If after all that preparation, we still look sloppy, then I guess RR will be let go.
would we be talking about this now?
Part of me wonders whether Brandon is waiting things out to appease the FIRE BAD CORCH RABBLE RABBLE crowd, so as to give the appearance that he weighed things long and hard and followed his process--reevaluate at the end of the year. If so, I bet he clued RR in on that.
Another part of me wants to blow my brains out because although I don't want to click on these threads and comment, I seem to be drawn irresistably, inexorably to them. They're like cigarettes in that way, I suppose.
Does he need to sacrifice part of a recruiting class to satisfy some fans? I hope not, but you never know.
I am interested to see how this plays out. Truly no one has any idea what is going on, we only have what we think. My question is will this bowl game have any effect on any people who are on the fence about what to do? If we blow out a good team, or just win, does that make you want to bring back RR? Or if we lost or get killed, does that mean you've had enough? Or will the game really not affect your opinion as you still view the season as a whole?
lol ever since the media made it out that Harbaugh "wants" to coach at michigan if RR is fired this year.
When did Harbaugh actually ever come out and say he wants to leave Stanford after this year?
Ive also seen a lot of people saying if he doesn't leave this year then it won't happen..
Who fuckin says that? No one knows what the hell is going on, it's hilarious
I'd be very, very shocked if Harbaugh came here even if he was offered the moon.
Well, he is on the short list for the Miami job, per the Miami Hurricane twitter feed. He may or may not be interested, but there is a lot of smoke indicating Harbaugh is looking at his options.
Bob Stoops was on the short list for the Notre Dame job last year as per Notre Dame sources.
This is scary—I actually agree with Shuttlesworth. He makes a very valid and relevant point.
Because Brandon doesn't do "Delivery in 30 minutes or less or it's free" deals anymore. Been there, done that.
Can't wait till Spring.
1. Going to have RR fired
2. An idiot when it comes to football
I'm so damn sick of hearing "Brandon this, Brandon that" like he's the greatest thing since sliced bread. Leaving the door open for speculation is the dumbest thing he can do. It's only going to divide the fanbase even more, make recruits waver, and set us back. We have shown obvious improvement, so if that's his excuse for waiting...It doesn't look good. (for those of us who want RR to still be our coach, anyway)
I think he's the best thing since the beejer. Why? It's the pimp hand.
Think of it more like a dramatic pause than a delay.
This will harm recruiting to some degree. I cannot believe 15 days of practice and a bowl game will be enough to decide RR fate. DB knows what he's going to do but doesn't want to spill the beans. Personally, I would give RR through his original contract. In 2012 the defense will be serviceable, may be 3rd best in the conference. But I'm no expert and DB is the AD who has to decide what is best for the football program!
I'll always be 100 percent behind the team, coach and AD no matter what transpires!
Though I hate losing, hate driving 8 hours (yes that is how far I drive to get to the 3 or 4 games a year I attend) to see an embarrassing loss, hate the fact that I know (as a gir!)land RR doesn't you do not put a true freshman in single coverage against a senior wide receiver that is likely to be drafted, hate the fact that RR doesn't know what a timeout is, or how to recruit a kicker, or many other things, I have 2 reasons for wanting Rich Rod out the door. Both reasons are directly related to his lack of leadership skills. Here they are:
YOU LEFT YOUR TEAM HIGH AND DRY BEFORE A BOWL GAME FOR A CHANCE AT BIGGER AND BETTER THINGS. There is nothing wrong with seeking advancements and improvements, but not at the expense of a team that puts it's faith and trust in you. As a former coach in Texas, I would NEVER do something so underhanded as to leave my players for money. Those kids deserved your committment as they committed to working their butts off for you! How dare you treat them like they don't matter?!?!?! That shows complete lack of leadership and committment.
YOU ALWAYS BLAME YOUR PLAYERS AND NEVER BLAME YOURSELF FOR LOSSES. Sure the players make mistakes and deserve to be consequenced, no disagreement here. However, if something is continually going wrong, you need to look at yourself. I am sick of every post-game press conference and interview being about all the mistakes the kids make. How about what you did wrong? Call me crazy, but if kids continually fail a teacher's class in school, wouldn't it come back on the teacher? If a store is not making sales, doens't it fall on the manager? Rich Rod, you have no sense of how to build camaraderie, trust, or respect in your team.
For those two main reasons, and the many other little reasons, Rich Rod please leave! Jim Harbaugh leading the maize and blue down the tunnel and onto the field is the only thing I want for Christmas!!!!!!!!!!
Ha Ha... just kidding. That sounds fucking crazy.
The OP correctly used CC. I am nuking dxcookie for flaming opinions that do not contribute. You have crossed the demilitarized zone.....
Well done sir. I applaud our newfound MGoNuclearWinter.
YEAH! He doesn't have any family values and kills a baby every morning!
I do not like your pointof view and general demeanor. Please refrain from posting on this topic again. Thanks.
First of all, I don't understand why there isn't more support of dxcookie. All she is stating is well.... FACT! You here all the talk from Rich Rod and the media about the defense being true freshmen and redshirt freshmen (lacking experience) and getting criticized and injuries to Troy Woolfolk and JT Floyd is a big reason for playing the freshmen. Fact is after 3 season Rich Rod STILL doesn't get it. Defense wins championships in the Big Ten. My question is why doesn't Rich Rod learn how to recruit defense, defense, and more defense? OH THAT'S RIGHT THE BIG EAST (when he was head of West Virginia), ACC (when he was Off. coordinator at clemson), AND CONFERENCE USA (when he was head coach of Tulane) don't play any defense at all.
When my 19 year old sister knows more about football than our head coach @ MICHIGAN there is a problem. Mary Sue(Michigan President) and DB cuts the ties with Rich Rod and bring in a REAL head football coach!
Thanks Goblueknight for adding more facts and intelligence to my post. I find it HILARIOUS that people actually get on here and type stupid meaningless comments that have NO factual basis, no real context and contain no intelligent thought. My only conclusion is that they must not be actual Michigan fans, but OSU or MSU fans that like seeing us lose over and over, and like seeing our top recruits leave to play for a team that actually trains them in pro-style play (versus our spread that prepares them for nothing and doesn't work anyway!). Personally, I want to see the return of teams like those under Bo, Mo and Carr. And I am SO SICK of hearing how RR needs some time rebuild!!!! Rebuild what? What he tore down? Look at these statistics:
1968 record was 8-2. Bo took over for 1969. His first 3 years at UM went as follows: 8-3 with Conf title, 9-1, and 11-1 with Conf title.
1989 record was 10-2. Moeller took over in 1990. His first 3 years at UM went as follows: 9-3 with Conf title, 10-2 with Conf title, and 9-0-3 with Conf title.
1994 record was 8-4. Carr took over for 1995. His first 3 years at UM went as follows: 9-3, 8-4 and 12-0 with National Title.
2007 record was 9-4. Rodriguez took over in 2008. His first 3 years at UM went as follows: 3-9, 5-7, 7-5.
So again I ask....REBUILD WHAT? There was nothing wrong when he took it, but there is now! Not since Bump Elliot have we been dominated on the field so embarrassingly. And yet I could still find some reason to support him if he had some sort of leadership skills and moral foundations.
If you want to disagree, fine. But be sure as to do so intelligently and with the support of facts, not ignorant comments and videos.
We are living in an era in which news and information about a situation is needed right away. If there is a "dead period" in where we do not get updates, it makes everyone paranoid, anxious and vocal. With the prevalence of the 24 hour news channels, the internet, or any other medium in where information is a click away, I feel that the trends (such as trying to interpret every word that Brandon, RR, or any other person of importance has to say) will only get worse and we are kind of seeing a microcosm of this right here.
I get that Brandon is not making a move on RR's status, what I cannot understand is no word on changes on the defensive side of the ball. Unless he has been told otherwise, it seems like this would be a good time for RR to pull the plug on at least GERG and start searching for a replacement. It just does not make sense not to unless he is unable to make those changes at this point.
did you write this thread?
(Why did I add to it?)
It is also possible that DB has instructed RR the only way he keeps his job is to replace most if not all of the defensive staff. They may already have a new crew in mind but cannot talk about it because that group of coaches is also involved in bowl game preparations.
doesn't that mean we have to post the job for two weeks publicly before we can get Harbaugh? That kinda makes the situation tricky...
No one outside Jim Harbaugh's office has a clue on whether he actually wants to come to Michigan. Ok, maybe Brandon. Can we just stop making posts that assume that Harbaugh will take command if he is presented the opportunity?
That is why this whole ordeal is tiresome to me.
the correct response is, "Fuck you."
Other times it seems better to say, "Kiss my ass!"
However, here is where you have to be careful; because if you aren't paying close attention and let emotion get the better of you, it can end up, "Fuck my ass!"
Well, then you are just going to have to deal with the awkward silence.
based on the fact that 1) DB has made up his mind and basically hired JH, while 2) RR has no clue this is happening.
That seems unlikely to impossible, so my guess is that (gasp!) DB is telling the truth as to evaluating the team after the bowl game.
First off, I want the guy to stay. I hate seeing people fail, and I have a lot of respect for a coach that will keep his only punter at home for breaking the team rule right before the biggest game of the year, and one where your personal livelihood as a coach possibly lies in the balance. Hell, MSU will let guys play that break state laws, while RR sets a team policy and sticks to it despite the situation. With that being said, here's why I think he is gone based on the possible scenarios for the delay to announce either we're keeping him or firing him:
1) DB wants to see how the bowl goes: Highly unlikely that someone will base a decision like this based on one meaningless bowl game. Result: Up in the air but this is pretty unlikely.
2) $1.5m decrease in buyout: definitely possible. Result: RR gone.
3) DB wants to think about it some more: I dont see how this is possible. All of the facts are laid out there. The guy has been thinking about this from day one and has been critically stewing over this after the MSU game. Result: Up in the air.
4) Harbaugh wants to coach the BCS game: possible. Let's face it, the guy was coaching at San Diego 5 years ago. The opportunity to coach the game which is the pinnacle of a product the guy has poured his life into over the last 4 years is probably worth more to him than a couple of extra recruits he could get if he came to Michigan right now. Result: RR gone.
In all, if the decision was made up that he'd stay, the announcement would OBVIOUSLY have happened by now. There's no reason to make everyone sweat and hurt recruiting if he knows RR is staying.
In addition, I have a hard time believing that Brandon needs these extra couple of weeks to figure it out. There is no pending information of any kind.
As a result, there must be some reason to wait to fire the guy. Whether it's money or a time table set by the other coach, either way, RR is unfortunately gone. Someone please convince me that there's another scenario where there is a reason to wait and then keep him.
