A lot of OSU fans wanted Herman fired after the VT loss.  It wasn't until the Sparty win that they started to warm up to him.

He also pretty much single handily cost them the B10 championship last year by not running Hyde in the 4th quarter.

Probably a decent coach, but not someone Michigan should have to settle for.  Also, probably too smart for his own good to be a football coach, if that makes sense.

Settle for?

Herman has made Cardale freaking Jones look like an All-American. He's made Miller and Barrett into Heisman contenders. While losing your starting QB to injury would cripple most teams, Herman just plugged another guy right in and there was little to no drop off. Twice.

Look at the current state of our offense, especially the play of our QBs, and tell me that getting Herman would be "settling."

Although I'm betting Hackett is targeting candidates with HC experience, how hilarious would it be if A) Herman was picked up by Michigan, and B) Miller followed him here when he realizes that there's almost no way he gets his job back over Barrett next year?

I don't get it.  Why would that be "hilarious"?  It'd make perfect sense for Miller and it wouldn't hurt OSU much, as we've seen this season.

He'll coach at Houston and get them back to 10 win seasons and will then take over for Sumlin at Texas A&M after he gets canned after a few more 7-5/8-4 type years.

I really don't understand the hype for him. What is the common factor with all of Urban Meyer's great offenses? I think that one is obvious

I want Michigan to sell its soul if Harbaugh says no. We need Les Miles to bring his bag men. After he arrives, his first order of business is to close the doors at cass tech and keep Sparty, and Ohio. I am at a point that it's time to sacrifice the long term for the short term success. Other schools can do it. This is why we suck. We don't cheat. Cheat, cheat, cheat. Cheaters win damn it.

Ok Dave I'll stop drinking and go to bed.

Michigan cannot afford to take a risk in the next HC. We are already in a hole that it will more than just a HC to get out of. With that said the next HC must be a proven superstar HC or the fan base will be in complete meltdown. Without a established, recognized HC it will be very difficult to recover in recruiting , something that must happen, and happen quickly. Also maybe this is just me, but the excuse that they win, or they are successful because "they" cheat and we don't , serves only to make us look smaller, weaker, and more pathetic. Michigan sucks right now, facts are facts, that's why we lose, we are out coached and out played on the field. Let's focus on fixing that, and then and only then will it be reasonable for us to offer our criticism of others.

Eventually he could end up being a great coach but I think he will have to prove it at a smaller school before getting a big program gig. We need a big name to save our program.
