CC: Tom Herman
According to Ozone they have a source that he is gone after sugar bowl. Did we grab him or someone else?

To Herman's Hermits all the time. Great group.

When I was a kid. I was old enough in the late 60s to remember a number of their songs! You don't here them on the radio much now a days. The oldies stations are playing 70s and 80s music! I must be getting old!

So he even knows it's a foregone conclusion, they are not beating Alabama. Find it odd he would leave before the NC game, if they win.

If he gets a head coaching job, he's going to have to recruit his ass off until signing day.
December 13th, 2014 at 4:59 PM ^
He, and every other coach, aren't allowed to contact recruits until Jan 14 because of the "dead period".
December 13th, 2014 at 5:17 PM ^
Sounds like he's trying not to burn the Ohio State bridge on the way out.
December 13th, 2014 at 5:31 PM ^
through the dead period. They are only prohibited from contacting recruits face-to-face.

Well since Harbaugh hasn't told us no, I guess someone else snatched him up. Though I think he'd be a great second or third option for us. Really high upside and fun to watch.

Muschamp is saying that he didn't get an offer from Houston:
"At the end of the day, that's the only job I've been offered."

I heard somewhere that they were going after him pretty hard. Sort of makes sense given his ties to Texas.
December 13th, 2014 at 4:55 PM ^
It does make some sense really - he was the OC at Rice for a couple years, so he definitely is familiar with the area adn the sort of talent you can potentially get. ESPN said Houston rather wants to return to time not to long ago - the Briles and Sumlin times - when their offense put up mammoth numbers. Herman could probably give them that.

not the finals. Hard to believe they didn't get the details wrong.

If he had so many ties in Texas, why not bring them to Ohio where he currently lives so he can use them???

I hope this is wrong, because I'm high on Herman and think he's going to be a good HC, and want him to be available if we miss on JH.
December 13th, 2014 at 4:54 PM ^
Really hope it's not us. Way too risky IMO.
December 13th, 2014 at 5:13 PM ^
While I would be ecstatic if we did grab him, I suspect that's not the case and he will end up elsewhere (Houston, for example).
He should've probably been #2 on Hackett's list after Harbaugh.
Edit:
Not sure why this was downvoted at all.
December 13th, 2014 at 5:22 PM ^
I didn't downvote you, but people probably just disagree with you. I think it'd be a horrible hire personally.

I said something similar on an earlier thread. This feels and plays like an Urban Meyer offense and nothing like Herman's offenses at Iowa State. I don't know how people are confidently giving him credit.

At least he'd be leaving Columbus
December 13th, 2014 at 5:25 PM ^
They must find a head coach with a winning record otherwise will end up with another Hoke. IMHO!

Probably. He presents a bigger risk than any of the reported top choices. He'd be harder to sell to an unhappy fan base. "We struck out on Harbaugh but here's an assistant from OSU" isn't going to boost ticket sales. The potential upside is there, but we're not in position to hire based on that.
We didn't hire Bo off of Woody's staff. He'd been a head coach for six years. Notice where these top assistants are going. SMU and likely Houston.

He's going to Houston and its a great hire for them.
Also, I don't care what anybody says, he would not have been a good hire by Michigan. Its a big name coach or nothing, IMO.
