first let me say that i live and die lsu football. as i read all these posts people keep talking about how great it is in baton rouge and what Miles has etc..i have lived in boston, dallas, houston, atlanta as well as baton rouge...i can tell you without a doubt living in baton rouge is like walking back 10 to 15 years in time and it is a total culture shock if you are not from there...its a small town with a small town atmosphere...there is nothing wrong with that but miles and his wife are not from there...baton rouge is a great college town but so is ann arbor and the schools up there are much better and it is a much more liberal environment. the university of michigan is an elite public university academically and it's reach is from coast to coast...there are many advantages for miles to go to michigan...but i would not guess as to how much they love baton rouge and the people there...after having lived in many great cities i thought baton rouge was a major step down...LA is not a highly educated state and often ranks in the bottom 5% of every category that is tracked by the federal government...sure he might live in a big house but if you can't stand your neighbors what difference does it make....he can still have his house in destin...but the baton rouge country club is no big deal i can assure you...

Translation:  How ya gonna keep 'em down on the farm after they've seen A-squared??

I've gotta say........Louisiana is probably the most backwards place I've ever been to, but it sure is a great time.

Let's get the entire coaching staff, whoever they will be, their own block in the Ann Arbor Hills or Barton Hills as part of their package to come to Michigan.

This rant would make more sense if Miles were a candidate for a U-M academic position.  Then again, I could see making him a joint HC/Prof. of SNRE (grass sciences).

but there's something about the South that is just comforting and happy. Just depends on your style I suppose.

Worst place I've ever spent an extended peroid of time in has to be Southern Cal. People are complete douches.

New Orleans is pretty cool, too bad they don't build proper flood control systems. The rest of the state sucks and Louisianians have such an inferiority complex its embarrassing. I lived in Baton Rouge for about 2 years, the ignorance and xenophobia is something you have to see to believe.

This post makes me smiley. Not because I agree with it but because I simply do not understand it:

re: The reality of Baton Rouge

Oh the educated and their liberal culture. Liberal doesn't mean better boss I've been around also. Give me us dumb conservatives anyday.

If this was posted ironically, I have a new idol: Night Train

First post I've seen of an LSU fan admitting something like that.  All of the other posts I've read relentlessly bash the state of Michigan because of (a) weather (b) the women are all hideous (c) they think the entire state of Michigan looks like Brightmoor in Detroit (d) liberal = bad and everyone in Ann Arbor is a hippie (e) weather (f) there are too many black folk (seriously, someone said that) and (g) weather.
