CC: Rivals Radio this morning ... 12/8

Submitted by Indiana Blue on

I really enjoy Rivals Radio in the morning (Bill King & Chris Childers shows) before the SEC shows dominate the afternoon hours (F-baum).   They do have a bent toward the SEC as their shows originate from Tennessee, but they get callers from everywhere and today Bill King said today that he has watched every Michigan game this year.

Bottom line today - they both have said they believe RR is done at Michigan.  They believe DB's refusal to stop all the "fire RR talk" and tell the world that RR is staying hurts Michigan more than if he would say either RR stays or RR goes.  It is DB's refusal to give that support to RR thay they say is the reason they believe the decision has already been made. And it is getting harder and harder to not take some of what they say as valid.

The speculation is worse than knowing !

Trust me I know this topic is toxic on mgblog.  I read thru the other posts before posting and no one else had referred to Rivals Radio this morning.  I woud also guess that a large portion of the readers do not even have XM or Sirius radio (143 on XM)  so I am simply trying to inform on what is being said to a national audience by "known" college football commentators.

But I think not knowing is better.

Leaving doubt keeps the team motivated to win the Gator Bowl.

Maybe DB hasn't been able to close the deal with JH yet?  If that's the case then you definitely keep RR until you know you have JH as a replacement.

If JH isn't coming then RR stays.

Or JH is waiting to see what NFL jobs shake loose.  The NFL season ends one day before the Orange Bowl.  He's a prominent name for pretty much every team with a current opening, and SF might make the most sense if they fire Singletary.

Neither answer is any more logical than the other.  Additionally, firing Rich Rod and naming an interim to coach through the bowl game would serve the same purpose.

I watched every Michigan game this year too and I think he's staying. Just thought I'd inform everyone about what my opinion is on the subject.

I too have watched every game this year.  Except the second half of the U Conn game cause my best friend's son was getting married.  Oh....and the Purdue game I listened to on the radio because  I was driving up north to go hunting.  And I was pretty damn drunk for both the MSU AND Iowa games (and the first half of Illinois now that I think of it) so while I was there I'm not quite sure I could tell you exactly what happened.

But other than that I'm pretty much an expert too and I say he's here one more year at least.

2 weeks ago bk was in the "rr wil be retained camp". Bk is an absolute insider and his opinions are usually spot on. I heard it too. I have to say rr is probably gone. He normally know's exactly what's going on and is not at liberty to say. can i transfer my points to something catchy like playnharbaughll or captaincomeback?

Come on Rodfather.  How could you go against the family.  Remember when the families all lined out against Michael.  You know what he did.  He took care of some family business.  Remember the one that sets up the meeting is the traitor.  Maybe DB wants to find out where the leaks are coming from.

I need to watch something else besides mafia movies and sports.

Bk doesn't just speculate. He does this often. He won't say something unless it has weight. He has been a huge rr supporter from day 1. I wish i were wrong. I have and will support rr until the end but bk is right on 99% of the time. On a side note i will support ANY UM coach 100%

Just joking with you.  It's not hard to figure out you where your support lies.  One thing I will add there have been alot of speculation from so called people in the know.  Maybe they are right, but no one knows.  DB hasn't been AD long enough for anyone to figure him out yet.  I don't even think he has an inner circle.  You just never know.

after 97.1 became the idiot machine it is today

BK was in the RR stay camp, you're right - but he turned completely a few weeks ago based on the M Rivals site guy coming on saying he wasn't sure.  The Rivals site guy had no inside info., was based solely on his gut feeling (i.e. delay means RR gone, Harbaugh in)

Conjecture based on conjecture of conjecturing conjectures

But otherwise King is a good listen

Get ready for some stupid pictures of cats, cartoons and the like, but I personally appreciate being informed about what members of the media (we all hate the media, rah, rah, F-them) say about Michigan.

Thanks for the post.

As to the substance, I agree with their reasoning.  If DB were inclinded to bring RR back, he wouldn't leave him to twist in the wind amid this speculation for more than a month.  I also agree that the timetable is hurting Michigan.

WTF!?  Why would Michigan apologize to Harbaugh for the uproar he caused with his dumb-ss comments?  If he feels hurt by the response, then he needs to get over it - he brought it on himself.  That said, I can't imagine Harbaugh is looking for an apology.  Just more media speculation and reporting of so-called "facts" that are comletely unsubstantiated.

The indecision has to be wreaking havoc on recruiting.   What is DB going to do, announce on Jan 2 that RR is gone, and then what?  A whole new staff comes in and has all of a month to stitch together a recruiting class?   That won't end well.   I just don't get the waiting.

You don't get the waiting because you are smart enough to know that waiting is only hurting Michigan.  Either keep Rich or fire him, but not telling anybody only hurts us and does nothing else.  He may be a millionaire, but he may also be a God awful AD if he is only disrupting things more than it has to be.
