CC: MGoBlog a "respected Michigan source" according to Fox Sports

Submitted by Code-7 on

An article from Fox Sports CFB AM about the coaching search.

Roughly 6 paragraphs down, sources are mentioned regarding to coaching search information:

" MGoBlog, a respected Michigan source on the Web, is saying that things are in motion between the two sides."

Not that people around the country weren't familar with the blog before this but still pretty cool for the blog to be mentioned in a such a postive way just prior to a mention of the Detroit News.

2 counters:

I think you're missing (in the coming to Michigan paragraph) the fact that Harbaugh wants to finish the season no matter what. He is a professional, and will not quit on his team and players, even though he is out of the playoffs and effectively done. Two games isn't going to make much of a difference either way.

Also, you left out the third possibility, which I think is most likely--he doesn't know what he wants to do, and he has not ruled anything out. He is and always has been planning to wait until the end of the season. He has not made a choice either way. So again, everyone has to wait until the end of the NFL season.

But there are other possibilities as well:

  • Jim really didn't want to directly discuss his future plans with any potential suitors (including Michigan) because he believes he owes it to his current team to be 100% devoted to the them right now and no one else. Considering the values he learned from Bo, that would not surprise me.
  • Given the above, Jim may not know what he will decide at this point. If that's true, and Hackett believes he still has some time before Michigan needs to move, that may still be okay. But, I also believe that from the perspective you've laid out, time may not be the ally we think it is.

Good thoughts. Thanks for sharing.

I have been thinking this for a while. Early on, I was in the "the longer this take the better the chances" camp. Now I'm reversing a bit. I know money is involved, but I just can't shake the feeling that JH has said no thank you or at least probably not and Hackett is still begging (which I'm ok with). I don't buy the "he wants to finish the season for his team and players BS". He wanted to win a SB, that can't happen now. The longer this takes the more I think he is waiting for the NFL season to be over so he can't talk about coaching another NFL team.
