CC: Marcellus Wiley at It Again on Twitter

Submitted by plisar on

I'm about to head to sleep for the night, but found these pop up on twitter again:

Cutler's benching was 2-fold...Bad performances, more so "last ditch effort to get Harbaugh" by Bears via trade. I'm told it's "Too Late"

Calling her a bitch isn't of anything. Men call each other names all the time. Names that are intended to degrade, Degrading therefore does not necessarily mean fear of her sexuality or anything sexist, unless, of course, you can show us a track record of the poster demeaning women in a similiar fashion.

Accusations without logical foundation are all the rage these days. This needs to stop.

What is less logical is the need to unnecessarily call a woman a bitch.  Just because name calling more accepted in male to male circles, it doesn't make it less inappropriate in this situation.  I may have been a bit brash in my retort, but I stand by it, as associating his comment with sexist behavior was more to prove a point with how immature he sounded.  Now, as I don't know this poster except that he has clearly shown some questionable decision making skills every so often in the few posts I remember him from, that is why I also left the door open for him simply just being someone who can't articulate his thoughts intelligently (which I do admit is the more likely scenario).

I think just as important as avoiding accusations without logical foundations (which my comment had more of one than some others I've seen on here), is making sure our posters are consistently above the level of RCMB and MLive where the commentators spew immature nonsense without a filter more often than not.  This blog is better than that, or so it tries to be.

Explain why the Saints would fire him using knowledge of their roster, system, fan attitude and season injuries.

Payton was brought up because fans with no clue looked for a hot name with a bad record. Saints would likely bench Brees before disposing of Payton

but when I went to say "[Coach X] is most likely ater Harbaugh" I drew a blank. I gotta think Hackett is confident they're getting Harbaugh because it has been totally silent on the Plan B's lately.

What credible rumor has even come out other than Harbaugh in the last week? None. Just agent's trying to get their clients a raise

Unless and until somebody directly connected to Jim Harbaugh is willing to speak on the record—something that's not going to happen until Harbaugh himself announces a decision—I don't put any value on anything anybody says on the internet/ESPN/twitter/etc., whether it's pro or con.

If confirmation bias was lethal, there'd be dead bodies by the thousands from San Francisco to Bristol, with a particularly high level of carnage in Ann Arbor.

I just find it hard to believe this guy, who has no obvious connections to Michigan or Harbaugh, would somehow have the "sources" to break this story.

Sounds more like a dice roll to me, and he doesn't have a whole lot to lose considering he's a nobody.

Wiley payed in the NFL for a decade, in a stretch that would put him in contact with both ex-Harbaugh teammates (numerous on the 2001-03 Chargers, at the least) and current 49ers players. I would not be at all shocked if he knows other Dunn clients or has close Michigan friends, either.

Kudos to him for logic on calling the Peyton/Garrett rumors for the bullshit they are and for the obvious deduction that Michigan waiting makes no sense unless they are aiming for a guy who isn't available yet.

Demerits for the benching Cutler = appeal to Harbaugh idea, because no that does not follow.

My friend is on his way to meet up with the team ... he said he would call me on his way home!

I'll give a full report after the discussion!!!

The benching of Cutler was done without the knowledge of the front office.  This has been reported by multiple sources and even confirmed.  I do not think the coach was think about making it easier for his replacement.
