CC: Les Miles...Whispers Growing Louder?

I hear you, but let's get to 11-1 so we can find out.

I feel like I could be reading the same articles written 4 and 7 years ago.

If Les Miles was going to coach at Michigan he would've done so long ago.

He looked like he was ready to walk off and drop someone with a Stonecold Stunner

I'm a little nervous about Miles. Isn't there some kind of animosity between Miles and Carr?
October 3rd, 2014 at 9:51 PM ^
Long story short: While Miles and Carr were assistants together, Carr was having an affair with the wife of Bill McCartney's brother. Miles was close with McCartney, so he naturally defended him and slighted Carr. This women is now Carr's current wife.
A lot of people like to twist the story to somehow make Miles the bad guy. In actuality, Carr was being the scumbag.

Carr married her when Miles was in junior high school. Why someone would believe that story is beyond me, passing it along as fact is inexcusable.
Their son was on the team when Lloyd and Les were assistants together.

Rather than insulting you, I'll simply ask how your timeline works. You accused Carr of having an affair with someone while Miles was on the staff. Someone he had been married to for many years by then.
My answer was not a story, by the way. They're facts you can look up. You might try that rather than spreading your stories..

McCartney and Carr are both from Riverview, MI. McCartney was the DC when Lloyd was hired to work under him. Think that happens if there was that kind of heat between them?
October 3rd, 2014 at 11:33 PM ^
I don't know too much about these 20-year-old innuendos, though I hope the two men can patch it up.
I did a little digging myself though and learned, courtesy of IMDB, that Lloyd Carr was a zombie in the 2011 Zombie Apocalypse TV movie! How did we not know about this before? I must see this film now.

If I were Les' agent, I'd tell Michigan this if they came calling: Les Miles is one of the best coaches in the country, and a proven guy. If you want him, put an offer in writing, show us you're serious, and then we will meet with you. Otherwise, pound sand.I'm not going to see my client embarrassed by Michigan again.
October 3rd, 2014 at 10:50 PM ^
I would once again use the michigan offer to renegotiate Les' LSU contract.
October 4th, 2014 at 8:57 AM ^
Les must be looking for a raise.
Odds of him coming to MIchigan are vanishingly small. The odds that this is to make LSU nervous are much higher.

Nah, he's Florida-bound.

I think you're right. But if not, he is a hell of a football coach.

It's all speculation until A.) Brandon is fired and B.) A new AD is hired.

Les could ride into A2 on a white horse and resurrect Michigan football. For real, this time.
I think he'd be a great fit for our football team right now.

Favorite rumor, i have wanted Les Miles or Jim Harbaugh since lloyd carr was gone...I wonder if theres a chance that Hoke gets before season end? What if we lose saturday to rutgers, do we replace him>...

Yes his offense is crazy young this year - during the Wisconsin-LSU game I think they said every single skill player from 2013 was drafted. So it was basically the OL plus new dudes everywhere and it showed. If Fournette is everything he is cracked up to be, and the QB develops they should be very good in 2015 but they dont take well to even 4 loss seasons down there and LSU has that potential this year.
This remains on LSU's plate:
- @Auburn
- Ole Miss
- Alabama
- @Texas A&M
- @Arkansas
If Big Bert is turning around Arkansas, Miles could go 2-3 despite having a pretty darn good team in that stretch. And that doesnt even include Florida which I assume will be bad this year.

You think Michigan has higher standards for elite athletes than LSU does?
Maybe he can take a couple more risks than Michigan can, but we're talking 1-2 / year, not 10-12.

Make sure you're clear, Rodriguez took a lot of kids who were barely or unable* to meet NCAA minimums. Very few football players probably meet Michigan's 25-75% ACT numbers. They have elite
*We screwed Demar Dorsey. Rodriguez and admissions should have known he wouldn't be admitted before he signed an LOI.
October 3rd, 2014 at 11:40 PM ^
The problem is not so much the academics, even though LSU is clearly not in Michigan's academic league. Miles oversigns, cuts players and pulls scholarship offers to kids who already commit. I do not want my alma mater doing that.
October 3rd, 2014 at 11:44 PM ^
Agree on those things. Fortunately, the Big 10 doesn't allow those things, so Miles wouldn't have a choice.
As for cutting players, I'm less concerned about cutting players now that our scholarships are for four years. It's going to count against him if he cuts players.
October 4th, 2014 at 12:33 AM ^
Good point on the four year scholarships. I'm no Delany fan, but kudos to the league for passing that rule.
October 3rd, 2014 at 11:06 PM ^
I guess I can't blame you as you are the typical arrogant Michigan head up his ass fan. LSU has 14 Rhode Scholars. Michigan has 25. And the great thing about LSU students is that they are a hell lot friendlier than many of the douche Michigan students I have encountered. http://www.rhodesscholar.org/assets/uploads/Rhodes%20Scholarships_Numbe…

I was watching a bit of one of the all-america games this past year and got to see one of the kids commit to "the university of LSU". I was wondering if that kid could get past admissions at UM.
October 3rd, 2014 at 10:34 PM ^
At this point, if he brings Jon Chavis and his strength staff, I'm on board with Miles.

I kind of see Miles as a bigger longshot than either of the Harbaugh brothers. I think what's going to happen is he's going to be a hot topic to be the next coach and he'll parlay it into more money from LSU. His team is stacked young talent and LSU will be a national title contender again over the next couple of years. Same thing happened the last time Michigan was "looking" for a new coach. I think the following season was when LSU went into the BCS title game undefeated and then lost to Alabama. Who knows though, maybe he'd be intrigued with being the guy that finally helped Michigan get back to national prominence. His love for Bo could also be a big pull for him and this would likely be his last shot.
October 3rd, 2014 at 11:08 PM ^
Let that sink in for a bit.
October 3rd, 2014 at 11:17 PM ^
I know this migh be a shock, but Michigan isn't LSU. Academic expectations are high up north. And so is strictly sticking to the 25 scholarship limit.
