I personally never thought it was realistic, which is why I made that clear. But it's been talked about plenty here and elsewhere, so I thought it was relevant. And like the commenter above said, I'm sure a few more guys who never really had a shot will get "Michigan raises" before it's all said and done.

There was no way he was ever going to be the next coach at Michigan. I am glad he is staying in Knoxville, I don't him lasting another three years there. At least he got himself raise though…

Must be nice to leverage a position with another school that you're a Tier C candidate for, at least 10th on the list, into a $250,000 a year raise. Wish I could tell my bosses I may leave for another other job that is nowhere close to offereing me a position to get a 10% raise.

I have no reaction to this news.  In no way should the fact that I bothered to type these words in this frame be construed as any indication that I give a shit where Butch Jones coaches football.

I still don't understand the praise he's getting at Tennessee. He's being talked about as if he has resurrected the program. In 2 years at UT his record has been:

2014 - 6-6 (3 wins against P5)

2013 - 5-7 (2 wins against P5)

While the prior two years Tennessee finished:

2012 - 5-7 (2 wins against P5)

2011 - 5-7 (2 wins against P5)

Nothing too inspiring, IMO.

This articles are pretty stupid, not even a DII coach will admit to public media that he wants the job.. Its the paying party UofM to make the hiring statement..even IF big IF Butch was offere the job and he accepted it what do you expect him to say to media? Oh yeah i got an offer i really like it and looking forward to move to AA sorry UT

The Les Miles Seminar on How to Get a Raise:

1. Wait for Michigan opening to occur.

2. Have people talk about you taking the Michigan job.

3. Wait for your current employer to offer you more money.

It is too bad Butch didn't stay for the afternoon session on having ESPN personalities report that you have accepted the Michigan job. That probably cost Jones some cash.

His agent did well to parlay being spoken to by a search firm into a raise when his team underperformed in a historically bad SEC East.

He was never contacted by any represenitive of Michigan. Whoever started that rumor (his agent) trolled everybody. The only coach who has been approached or reached out to is Harbaugh officially. I think people just put B.S. out there cause they have no real sources.
