CC: JH 2 Michigan Week 16 NFL Cheering Guide

Teams we should be rooting for in BOLD listed from most important to least.

FALCONS over Saints - Falcons may be the most legitimate threat to us getting Harbaugh. Need Mike Smith to get his squad to the playoffs and increase his job security in the worst division in the NFL.

BROWNS over Panthers - increases the Falcons chances of making the playoffs.

BEARS over Lions - Sorry Lions fans, need Trestman to gain a bit of job security.

DOLPHINS over Vikings - increases Joe Philbin's job security.

TEXANS over Ravens - plan B option John Harbaugh is slightly more attainable if he misses playoffs.

BENGALS over Broncos - Both this and the Steelers game below don't really matter, but again if John Harbaugh is going to be even a remote possibility as a backup plan, we need him to miss the playoffs.

STEELERS over Chiefs

I get it, man. You know the stuff we've heard over the past week or so about our cc has brought out a ton of stuff. Thing is - your friend could be right, but then some other shoe drops which could cause them to take another candidate. We just never know until there's a signed contract and the guy is at the press conference. Thanks for the info, though. I hope you're right.

Sure they have great history. They also have so much money tied down with Cutler. They have some good young players, but not enough to form a core moving forward. Cutler seems not to be a quality option moving forward but cutting him is financial suicide if I understand the situation correctly.

Can't root against the Lions I'm sorry. If JH's decision rests on if Trestman is fired then so be it. He probably doesn't want to come in that scenario. MT is fired anyway. THE LIONS HAVE A CHANCE AT A HOME PLAYOFF GAME.

How about "What the NFL moron reporters are saying today update" so I don't actually have to listen to them. Thanks.

I believe they are Adam S, Jason LC, Ian R...

So what is high-end coaching money in the NFL? Seems to be about the 7 million range. To get JH, we're talking that range (probable price point of the $49 million M deal) + a couple picks and more money.

SF is certainly not interested in any team getting better without it enriching them significantly, and that's not a second round pick. Otherwise, they would prefer JH leave the NFL. I would speculate SF wants two or three good picks plus cash. Not sure how to value a few picks, but whatever that value + cash + $7 million = highest paid NFL coach for a coach who has to be perceived as mysteriously damaged goods.

I am a Browns fan. If Satan got us to two division titles, three AFC championship games and a SB appearance in four years, I would light incense to mask the brimstone smell, open our spare bedroom and give room and board to one of his arch-demons that needed a place to stay, and smile as I headed down to the stadium for some meaningful football and human sacrifice. Is another team going to give unheard of cash and compensation for a coach who, despite all this success, is being run out of town?

Not saying it won't happen; but owners will hestiate. This isn't an easy decision because every owner wants to hire their last coach, their Bellichik, and JH is clearly an expensive NFL rental.

Chicagos getting a new HC regardless of whether they win out i dont see how rooting for Chicago helps us get Harbaugh. if he wants to take the Michigan job he will take it

We're basically recruiting Harbaugh as our next head coach. Therefore, along the lines of the hundreds of posts I've seen on this site regarding high school recruits, I want a guy who wants to be here. If Harbaugh is taking Michigan by default because the bears or falcons job aren't open, then I'd rather him not come. All in or not at all.

Praying for a Lions' loss in a season like they're having is crazy talk. If Harbaugh wants to stay pro, I don't envision him and his happy little West Coast family traipsing off to Chicago or Atlanta. And Ross won't poach him to his coast unless he states unequivocally that he wants to remain in the NFL. Something tells me if he's going to uproot the family it'll be to Ann Arbor.

I don't even think of John Harbaugh anymore. And if NO happens, I'm ready to transfer my devotion to Les Miles. We could do far worse. We already have.

Barring a deep run in the playoffs, Smith is gone in Atlanta. That team has a stupid amount of talent, especially on offense, and they've had two abysmal seasons. He gone.

Trestman is gone whether the Bears win out or not. Sounds like there's a lot of distrust between Trestman and the players. Although in Trestman's defense, not even Vince Lombardi could win football games if Jay Cutler was his quarterback.

I'm rooting for this Menelik Watson kid out in Oakland who just pulled all the stops out for a four-year-old girl born with half a heart. The team made her a captain for the day, she received signed jerseys and team memorabilia, and then Watson donated his game check to her, which amounts to a gross of over $38000 on a rookie salary of a little shy of $700000. That's a pretty big gesture and a pretty big deal. It's our human proclivity to gawk at bullshit that every domestic violence or drunk driving incident makes the news in headlines as big as the moon while these kinds of things are largely ignored. So go, Menelik Watson, and beat the Bills, Raiders!
