CC- An interesting Reddit comment
Edit: The reddit user is elduderino01. I don't know if it has anything to do with the rdt/wiab junk that everyone is babbling about.
Like everything else relating to the coaching search, take this with a grain/bucket of salt. That said, two things lend this at least a little bit of credibility. 1. He's an Alabama fan, yet knows a suspicious amount about the inner workings of U-M -- far more than any random Alabama fan could really be expected to. 2. He has a 5 year old account. Generally on reddit, the older your account is, the more credible you are. At the very least it means you're not there simply to troll. Take it for what it's worth. I'm not presenting this as a fact.

"According to my source ( a fella who works in their Athletic Department and is a friend of my brother who is a faculty member there, and who correctly called the timelines for both the former AD and Head Coaches being fired earlier this season... ) Harbaugh to UM has been pretty much and agreement in principal for almost a month, and as of this past week the deal is done. harbaugh will be e next head football coach at UM... It also makes plenty of sense, certainly more sense than continuing to work for the Yorks or to start new with the Davis's.... Oh and for what its worth, it is the family that owns the Miami Dolphins who were so instrumental in getting this done. Apparently theyre also huge UM boosters and they are writing the blank check. As well Lloyd Carr and his backers on the Board of Regents have given their blessing as well. Harbaugh has been assured he will have carte blanch when it comes to football operations in A2"

i just went through his entire post history on reddit, spanning five years.
aside from being incredibly misogynist and inflammatory, nothing about his posts indicate that he has any special connection to the Michigan AD. Never makes a mention of his brother at Michigan in any of the hundreds of posts on r/cfb. the guy lives in tempe arizona (may or may not have graduated from ASU), married, works for a backend financial services outsourcing company, is 31 years old, and never gave any indication that he (or his supposed brother) have an in at the Michigan AD. his only inside connection to football seems to be a cousin who played football for Northern Arizona University in the late 80s and 90s, but he is only mentioned once and not having anything to do with inside information.
in fact, judging from many of his past posts, he has a real disdain for michigan - talks a lot of shit about michign during debate about the rematch running up to the bama-lsu national title game, and his dislike of michigan pours through elsewhere.
for such a prolific poster on r/cfb its a bit strange that he doesn't know the name of stephen ross, which has come up numerous times on that board this year (and previously).
i would take this post with a HUGE grain of salt. his prediciton may be right, but i really doubt he has any inside information.

B.S. with a huge grain of salt is still B.S. That was the point of my 90 year old aunt, post.
Anyone can get on the internet and post anything, but I was called the troll for making fun of that.
While all of these rumors are entertaining, let's live in reality. If any deal with any coach is already done, no numbnuts on Reddit knows about it.
The enire planet Earth knows JH is the #1, #2, and #3 choice for the job. The job Hackett has is to not put JH in a position where he has to make a decision RIGHT NOW like Brandon and Carr did with Les. They knew Les wasn't going to take the job and bail on the title game so they made sure to put him in a position to actually have to say it.
Hackett is playing this just as he should. Not putting potential candidates in a position where they have to take themselves out of the running, but also keeping the #1 choice at a distance -by that I mean not forcing him to accept or decline before NFL season is over- like they did with Les in 2007.
Right now, IN MY OPINION, Hackett doesn't know 100% if JH is coming. This is why he's keeping potential candidate names close to the vest. Harbaugh could very well still be coaching a game in February (unlikely but possible). Is Wolverine Nation willing to wait that long?
Over the next few weeks, there could be some interviews taking place. What if the next "Harbaugh" shows up before the real JH's season is done? Then what? Do you pass on a sure thing while the 49ers are making a playoff run or do you wait it out? I don't know and I'm glad I don't have to make that call.
One thing I do know is this: the 2015 recruiting class is probably going to be a joke and the next season for whoever the next coach is will most likely be a nightmare as a result... Unless it's a current college coach who may have a few recruits follow him to Ann Arbor.
So, yeah. I think some candidates are going to interview so those expecting JH to show up before January are reaching beyond reality. Grab a Snickers because this process is going to take a while.

Well, what a fucking surprise—who would have thought some random semi-anonymous guy on the internet would be lying out his ass.

I don't believe this, or anything about the coaching search for that matter, but I hope it's true.
