Don't kill me, but this simple question that doesn't seem to have been addressed has been bugging me:
Say Harbaugh eventually takes the 49ers job or signs the Stanford extension. Does that make Rodriguez safe regardless of what happens on Saturday?
I don't think what happens Saturday is going to make a difference this year. If he's safe this year right now, he's safe on January 2nd.
you don't succeed....
Hey, a CC thread.
Come to think of it, some CC would be a good idea....
I have trouble picturing Braylon on a skiing trip. Seems more like a Dhani way to roll.
Here in the great white north where "rye whiskey" or just "rye" is the norm you can do well with CC although I would personally recommend a couple other options if you're looking for a more complex flavor profile. Of course, this might depend on the sort of selection your local liquor vendor has available.
1. Forty Creek Rye (Small Batch Reserve) if you can get it. Standard 40 Creek is also very very good and is the bar rye at my curling club.
2. Gibson Sterling (not expensive but very very smooth)
3. Canadian Club Black 20 Year old.
That's soooo canadian. Your'e in a a curling club, that's hilarious, god damned canadians never fail to humor me.
We got to drink something in the lounge after the game.
They all pretty much look like this or some variation on the theme...you're welcome any time. Order the bar rye, I'd recommend it.
Thanks Clarkie, I have been looking for some good rye whiskey. I'm new to the whiskey game since turning 23 this past year I have developed a liking to better tasting liquor. Now the only question is if they are available in California.
I ... cannot ... parse ... this ... phrase.
Besides Michigan Football, all we share is a continent. Oh well, cheers!
You know that curling is institutionalized with the rule that after any game the winner is obligated to buy the loser a drink of his choice and it is the loser's responsibility to reciprocate. Unquestionably the best rule in all of sport.
I'm sure we could start you a tab.
I enjoyed watching womens curling because some of those girls were hot. Then I actually got into the sport as a whole. It may look boring at first, but curling had me on the edge of my seat. I even looked into see if there were any curling rinks in my area.
May be old news, but since we are talking about a subject I care for deeply, have you ever mixed whipped cream vodka and orange soda? Tastes exactly like a Creamsicle. You can feel like a kid and an adult all at one time.
And I'll never do it again. Seems that too much of a good thing CAN be bad! That was one summer party that I'll never remember.
I hope so, but I have my doubts.
For everything holy and good I sure hope so.
Your gona get killed!
BRADY HOKE FTFWWWWW
This is why I preface my post with "don't kill me". I'm not fond of the CC posts, but it's just a question I'm wondering about. If you don't have anything to contribute outside of posting the same thing on every CC thread, can't you just look or post elsewhere?
This is the first time I've ever posted on a CC I think...I avoid them. I didn't mean to belittle your point, you make a fair one.
Lead me to it then. It seems to be Harbaugh or bust. If Harbaugh was to hypothetically accept the SF job tomorrow and we lose by three TDs....where does that leave us?
This is what I'm thinking and hoping for also. I just wonder if there's someone out there who can build an argument from an angle that hasn't been heard yet. All Hoke jokes aside, would DB still can Rodriguez if Harbaugh wasn't available? That's why I took the risk of starting a *gasp* CC post.
Waiting until after the bowls are over is the best way (only way?) to deliberately discuss options with Harbaugh without distraction, and all cards openly on the table. The bowl game results and the lower payout are secondary reasons. The other reason for waiting is to explore options for assistant coaching changes, again when all candidates are free to discuss opportunities. Still thinking DB is inclined keep RR and see this experiment through over 4 - 5 years, unless Harbaugh jumps at a long-term deal.
or with some other candidate that we the uninfirmed fans have not yet discussed.
I think that if DB wants to can RR, he will do so with or without JH being around. If JH is not around, there are plenty of other candidates.
I know that he is not popula here (although I can't figure out why), but I personally think that Hoke would be a great coach, and if I were hiring for the long haul, I am not so sure that JH would be that far ahead of Hoke on my list.
From everything I remember back in the 1990s and from what I have read, Hoke seems like a great coach. Well regarded, loved by his players, a great recruiter and someone who holds Michigan as his dream job.
Just like everyone else is saying, let's hope so
If not Harbaugh then Ditka.
Let's bring in Mike Hart
He has said multiple times that he would love to coach sometime in his life.
but that doesn't mean I want him to start coaching next year
Did you guys know Mike Martin is considering the NFL Draft?
I'm just now realizing we might have a coaching change. Who is Mike Martin?
Of Rowen and Martin.
Saturday is not the determining factor as far as Rich's job status is concerned. Most everyone on here seems to think that this game is that determining factor but Dave Brandon has stated ad nauseum that he will evaluate the whole season once play has halted. It is easy to see a scenario where Michigan puts a hurting on Mississippi State but Rich is still subsequently fired because again it's the whole season in review. People who have discussed and talked about this to no end should have realized this long ago. I guess that's giving the readers and posters of this blog too much credit.
Saturday is part of the season. What happens on Saturday has an impact on his job status. If we were to lose big, it's not going to help matters if the AD is already had to state that the job needs evaluation in the first place.
1/13 of a season is a small sample to make much difference in determining overall success.
by your logic, the OSU is only 1/13 of the season, and would have equal weight to the BGSU game.
Actually they are one in the same. As far as game preparation, execution/performance, and the ability to coach the players up I would say that every game has the same defining principles (possibly different then the ones I have mentioned). No one game can be evaluated differently when considering those factors just because of importance. The football season is not the only evaluating principle in the decision so that is something to consider as well.
You can put bgsu on a higher tier than umass but we saw how that turned out. The ability to use some sort of a check list to determine success (whatever Brandon's idea of that is) is the only way to go through the season while evaluating the team and coaching staff.
Who do you think, if not Harbaugh, will give us the best chance to be successful in 2011 and 2012?
I'm going with RichRod. Are there other alternatives? Certainly. But more than likely those alternatives = certain committed prospects and even current players leaving and this whole thing happening again. Lets just stick to RR or JH for now
Not a bad situation to be in really. Either one leaves us with a lot of hope for the future.
But I'm very tired of waiting all year to find out what we are made of. I remember the years when we just knew we would dominate almost every opponent. I'm sick of wondering if the D will be worked out. Who will be healthy. If we will have the same coach next year etc...
I'm looking forward to the day when we just know, for the most part, what the next season will bring. Just want some freaking consistency.
For the record, we should have the numbers, i.e. V. Smith "2" up for the days left to hear about the CC! I feel like drinking a gallon of turpentine and pissing on a brush fire.
But I am Le Tired....
