CC: i hate rosenberg, but i believe he has better sources than the big lead

Submitted by ish on

and it appears those sources are telling him that the big lead is wrong:

i just don't think the big lead could outscoop all of the michigan area sources.  and we haven't heard anything from the bay area confirming this.  take it FWIW.

and don't hate me for posting the print version of a rosenberg article - it's still a source.

EDIT: I'm told the link above is not working.  Try this:

Unfortunately, that won't happen. I have a feeling that one of the reasons Rosenberg is so pro-Harbaugh is that he has a good relationship with him and would therefore have better access to the program than ever.

This is not a prediction; I have zero infrormation on what is likely to happen.  But can you possibly imagine, the shit-storm that David Brandon will endure from the Free Press, if he somehow fails in the sacred mission to secure Jim Harbaugh?

Forget about the merits of who the best guy for the job might be; forget any other history.  Forget about the merits, or lack thereof, of any second-tier candidate.  Set all of that aside.  With no further opinionating from me.  If there is any conclusion other than the rolling out of a maize and blue carpet for Jim Harbaugh (wherein Rosenberg will get the inaugural exclusive interview), David Brandon will have hell to pay the to the Free Press sports columnists.  No matter what, the failure to obtain Harbaugh, and Harbaugh alone, will be deemed a colossal failure.  Hell, Rosenberg appears to be angry right now that Harbaugh wasn't locked up last October, presumably when Rosenberg was personally recommending Harbaugh to Brandon.

I refuse to read anything Michael Rosenberg writes. But thanks for the summary, that is hilarious. He's probably mad that Brandon/Rodriguez haven't found a way to get Woodson's eligibility back and thus solve all of our secondary problems.

Maybe I'm being charitable, but I think it depends on what happens with Harbaugh. If he ends up following a Hall of Famer and former Stanford coach's footsteps to the 49ers for many millions, or joining a Hall of Famer and former Stanford quarterback at Denver for many millions - it would be hard to say anyone could have prevented that.

I am going to cut off one of my fingers for even typing this, but Rosenberg's article was actually a well-written article that made good, rational points with respect to the CC issue.

Right now, it is a fluid situation and until we know something definitive, we know just about nothing.

I do know that it is almost 1:00 and I haven't done a lick of work yet!

This could also be Rosenberg writing out his hopes, seeing as how he was on the forefront of the anti-RR team.  He hasn't liked RR bc of his non-Michigan Man title.

On the other hand, he makes very valid points.  Really, I believe we'll know what's happening at Michigan in terms of HC within 5 days.

This is game theory - so negotiations often "break down" as part of overall strategy. JH is in a great negotiating position now, and would be crazy if he didn't push the envelope as far as he can. He gets a good package and pushes DB to make it better. Eventually both sides find each other's limits and strike a deal within that zone.

What is to fear? That one side fails to recognize the defined limit, or finds the "best alternative to negotiated agreement" acceptable, which, in this case, is the NFL.

you give any credibility to Rosenberg? This is the same as 99% of the MSM has been saying all along (did you watch any NFL pre, halftime, or post game show yesterday)? They all commented on how Harbaugh was Michigan bound. I'm sure if you watch an NFL show now on ESPN or NFL Network, you will hear the same thing.

We learned absolutely nothing from your link. Peace!

Rosenberg is dead on in this article.  He also makes the good point that the UM coaching job is a far more scarce commodity to come by than an NFL job.  The NFL will always be there but the UM job could be once in a lifetime.

For that reason, I think If Brandon parts from Rich Rod, Harbaugh's coming our way!

Rosenberg writes well--no disputing that.  It's just that he has no integrity.  He'll always be dead to me.  It's too bad that RR most likely will not have the chance to shut that smug asshole up.

And one more thing: since everyone seems to have forgiven Harbaugh for what he did a few summers ago, I would at least like to know that no one will ever forgive that scumbag Rosenberg.  Please don't disappoint me any further, Michigan.
