CC- "Hoke rumor"

I searched a few pages in and didn't find anything.   I am NOT in any way a fan of the idea of having Brady Hoke as a potential replacement to RR.    RR has a way better career track record.   But I thought I should share this.

It's widely known that San Diego State coach Brady Hoke made officials aware when he was hired that his dream job would be in Ann Arbor. And Austin American-Statesman columnist Kirk Bohls call it a "crazy" prediction, but he says Hoke is simply waiting to take the job after opting not to speak with Pitt about it's opening."

FA Edit: Editing to not have full copy/paste. Copy/Paste is bad, especially paid content. We prefer you summarize content in your own words. I went to try it, but it was just a rehash of several Hoke things in the past without any new, original, or concrete things. I read this and I see overstating recruiting hurting and blatantly quoted "crazy" prediction. For more on Hoke, might I suggest this thread. /FA-edit

Not too bad of a decision really considering they just gave him a raise. He is probably making more there than he would at Pitt and I bet he is not freezing his ass off right now. So why not stay on the west coast and just wait it out to see if your dream job opens up? It may never be available but if he keeps winning Hoke can do way better than Pitt.

So, I am let's say a "vendor" to a company that had significant interactions with Scarlet in 2010 -- she was shooting a big-name movie on their location for the better part of two or three weeks.  I have a well-positioned buddy at the company who was around the set constantly.  Reportedly -- let's all sigh in harmony -- she is not only the 10X hotter in person, but she is way way way sweet and personable and not at all a diva.

Do you think the New York Giants would hire Bill Cowher to be the defensive coordinator, when Cowher has already stated that the #1 job on his wish list would be head coach of the Giants?

Is it out of the relm of possibility for a guy who is a HC at a small university to take a step backwards and join his dream team as a DC with the hope that he would be next in line for the HC job should it become available?

I am just thinking in terms of what I would do under the circumstances and if the pay was similar, I would have to say I would be interested if I was given the choice. Of course, I am not a FB coach though. So has something like that ever happened or do coaches never do things like that.

It's rare that coaches like to cede control when they've been successful as head coach.  You'll see some "failed" head coaches move back to being a coordinator, of course.  And once in awhile, you'll see head coaches from D-II or D-III schools move up to coordinators at a higher level.

But I can't think of an example where a successful head coach at an FBS school has willingly accepted a coordinator position at another FBS school.  I'm not saying it hasn't happened, but I'm pretty sure it would be a rare occurrence.

they work out pretty well.  Guy named Moeller did okay at a certain University until his off-field issues sabotaged his tenure.   And, if my memory isn't failing, wasn't his successor another coordinator who won a Natinal Championship.

so why the painful transition?  Reality is his team won 8 games with one against a team with a winning record, Air Force.  The other 7 wins were against teams that combined were 44 games under the break even point.  He did have some competitive games against good team that were probably looking past SDSU.

This would be a major downgrade in coaching and would make me lose all faith in DB.

The boys over at Rivals are saying that Hoke hasn't received any communication from Michigan's end.  However, if Brandon is actually what he's trying to present himself as, I doubt anyone has heard anything from Michigan's end and won't until a decision about Rich Rod is made either way.
