In fact, I hope that, in 40 years (I'll be 75), I'll appreciate that life is very different than when I was "coming up" and try to appreciate that priorities change.
P.S. Every generation is steeped in tradition but each have a different outlook on life. My point, as I'm sure you are aware, is that it is very presumptuous to assume that what you hold dear and deem important is, in fact, important to subsequent generations. If you want to get into a battle of grammar than lets do it. Otherwise, I think you got my point.
