CC - Harbaugh body language in latest presser

Submitted by Raskolnikov on

This may be a shitty post to some, but I don't care. Neg me, abduct my dog, slash my tires, etc. That's fine. I consider this interesting.

Watch the relevant part of Jim's latest press conference here, from 7:40 to 8:35. http://mgovideo.com/jim-harbaugh-monday-presser-12-8-14/

Now watch this youtube video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiIP_KDQmXs

HE'S HIDING SOMETHING!!!1!

Seriously though, he tenses right up, starts using his hands/arms, sort of rambles, etc. You get a body language expert in here, and that's a Michigan coach at that podium.

Yes I love it mgo has officially crossed the line into the weird and creepy. This is the equivalent of just sitting on the hood of your ex girlfriends car waiting for her to get out of work after she dumped you a month ago lol.

...we are officially off the reservation now that we're looking at body language.

It's time to shut MGoBlog down until the decision is made.

Or don't...because when I see the "CC: Jim Harbaugh bought stool softener at CVS" thread implying that he's nervous and he can't move his bowels properly. That's when I'll know we've made it.

Quickly crossing his hands in front of himself does indicate that he felt defensive, and had something he did not want to reveal.

However, maybe what he did not want to reveal was that he is thinking about saying yes.  On the other hand, perhaps he did not want to reveal that he said no.

In any case, his startled expression and "covering up" hands gesture was obvious.  It does reveal this is an emotional subject for him.  It really doesn't directly indicate what his final decision will be.

Having said that, let's remember: Logic is often the rationale which people use to justify their emotional decisions.  With full disclosure I'm an all in Wolverine who's not entirely objective about these events, I would say his body language does reveal something:

There's a chance.

Please note: For those who are skeptical, there's actually a science to this subject, although it's far from being as well quantified as say, nuclear physics.

Such analysis is used for serious purposes, such as questioning terrorists who have life or death information.  Subliminal perception is also used extensively in advertising.  It goes on all the time, we just don't always process the information consciously.

Not sure I'm liking the tone of this one. He needs to be running far away from the reality and hardships of the moment!

"You will probably be perfectly in tune with the day ahead, Capricorn. Of course, it's tempting to run away from the reality and hardships of the moment. But at other times, when you're so compassionate and find it easy to listen, like today, life is really rewarding. People find your company soothing and pleasant, and they're likely to thank you for it. Aren't days like this great?"

who has already signed a contract with Michigan. That would not surprise me if Hackett offered Jim an offer he could not refused and he has already signed a multi-year contract to be Michigan next coach. May be that is the reason for the increased friction between Jim and his GM. It was a couple weeks ago that something happened between Jim and the GM. My guess is that he told the GM not to trade him since he has already under contract with Michigan staring in January of '15!

You listen to Harbaugh and to me it is impossible not to respect and admire the guy.  Everyone talks about what an absolute competitive freak Tom Brady is.  He has nothing on Harbaugh.  You can just see him seething beneath the surface during this presser yet not losing it.   You also get the sense that the reporters are afraid to ask him a stupid question. Even if we don't get him, this reminds me why he is the best possible option and I wish him well no matter what.

I will say this, if M does not at least make him a sick big offer, under these circumstances, it is some form of business malpractice.

You want to know what it shows? It shows that he doesn't want to talk about any other job to the media. That is what it shows. Whether he thinks oakland q's are coming and he knows he's going there, or he knows he's going to michigan, it doesn't matter...it all would look the same.

Or maybe, now this may seem crazy, but maybe he's tense because he hates losing and after losing he gets asked the same question everyone has been asking him for a month. No, that would be logical.

From that video I got that Harbaugh didn't take the advice to "Avoid Greg Lloyd" and that he broke the bonding on a "$2 steak." However I didn't see anything from his body language that was any different from how he answered any of the other questions. I'd like what you said to be true, but I think you're grasping for straws...

The level to which we try to analyze Harbaugh's every move is truly baffling, and dare I say even creepy.

For all we know, he's already signed a contract with the Raiders, and that's why he's so jittery.

I came here to neg the shit out of you and bitch for sinking to another ridiculous low, but I found the text of your post amusing. In sum, I still hate it and resent its existence, but I'm also amused. Upvotes.

At one point you can see his lips moving a little but nothing coming out. If you examine that moment frame by frame in slow motion you can clearly see him mutter, "I'm going to eat Urban Meyer's children."

We just need a mentally ill Michigan fan to run onto the field in San Francisco with a "come home" custom made shirt on similar to what the Cleveland kid did to Lebron.  Never has so much hinged on one decision.....

Can we just turn MgoBlog into a Harbaugh fan club?  Thats what we have evolved too right?

Lets just change the banner to Harbaugh, and we should come up with a Harbaugh motto and a Harbaugh song, and have annual meetings dedicated to Harbaugh.
