CC: Is Gus Malzahn the Mystery Candidate?

Submitted by MGoVoldemort on
If what Cowherd is saying is correct, Gus Malzahn makes a lot of sense. No one, outside of random names being thrown around (which is a favorite hobby of us fine folk here at mgoblog), has brought up Malzahn. Cowherd seems to be quite fond of Malzahn, and has even gone so far as to say he would end the Saban dynasty. I could make a logical argument that Cowherd could be connected to those around Malzahn; especially his agent, given how much positive publicity Cowherd gives freely. Malzahn has a low buyout, and would essentially be a cure-all for the Michigan offense.

When Cowherd says "no one is talking about this guy" (or whatever), I'm sure he doesn't mean that no one on MGoBlog has mentioned the guy.  He's a national radio host who hears only the most superficial conversations about this stuff.

If you are an agent to any top tier coach and you do not float your client's name to media hacks like Cowherd, then you are not doing your job.

I’m starting to wonder about some of this coach talk, too. The idea that agents and coaches could just be putting rumors out there themselves to generate contract extensions and get more money, isn’t far fetched at all. Somebody just whispered that Hugh Freeze might be interested in coaching somewhere else, and Ole Miss quickly backed the Brinks truck up into his front yard. That rumor lasted about two minutes, and his agent could’ve easily put it out there. Auburn will throw big money at Malzahn, if he’s the lucky name that pops up.

While everybody else has been racking their brains trying to figure out how to bypass the block on Flight Tracker, I've been tracking this.....

Just pulled up in front of Jim Mora's house. Hackett just got out and went inside. His driver is sitting there waiting for them both.

The Herd doesn't know all the names we have been throwing around so it could be a Gundy, Stoops, Shaw, Sumlin, ect as he may not know that we fans have been throwing those names out plenty.

If it's someone not being mentioned lets list out all the top coaches in no particular order.

Nick Saban
Bob Stoops
Kevin Sumlin
Gary Patterson
Gus Malzahn
Mike Gundy
Mark Richt
Jim Mora
Art Briles
Dan Mullen
Todd Graham
Kliff Kingsbury
David Shaw
Les Miles

I would think most of these would be considered tier 1 coaches or close to it based on personal opinions. So who here would the surprise candidate? Or is it an NFL guy? I think I'd be ok with just about everyone on this list, although a few would have to show me something. Obviously a few of them have been widely talked about even nationally.

He's 62, coached at Mizzou for 14 years, is the all-time Missouri leader in victories, and has no direct connection to Michigan.

Cowturd has accomplished exactly what he and the agents floating this idiot rumor wanted: get people speculating breathlessly about who the fucking mystery meat is.

The word on the street is Phil Jackson is transitioning to football. West Coast guy, familiar with the Midwest. No one has mentioned him.

If he didn't wear that sweater and go to auburn I think I wouldn't mind. I live in Bama so I'm sick of anything having to do with Alabama and Auburn.
