The anti-RR crowd has become increasingly enamored with the possibility of JH being UM's HC. The RR supporters, as I am, have somewhat resigned themselves to the near certainty of RR not being here next year, and agree that JH seems the best option at this point.
If not JH, and RR is gone, and unless the hire is Gruden(0.0001% probability) or Cowher(0.001% probability) or Dungy(0.001% probability), then the fanbase will most certainly be fractured to a point that makes ND's fanbase look downright sane in comparison.
On the flip side, Hoke COULD come in to UM and be very successful, but much of the fanbase would be questioning the hire from the start.
A point of fact about Bo when he was hired. Bo was HC of Miami(OH) for six seasons, with a 40-17-3 record and two MAC titles. His other coaching experience came by way of tOSU and NW(with Ara Parseghian). Miami(OH) was 5-5, 6-4, and 8-2-1 in the three years prior to Bo becoming their HC(SDS was 3-9, 4-8, and 2-10 prior to Hoke becoming HC who took them to 4-8 and 8-4 with a bowl win).
Whoever the next HC is, I would hope that the fanbase gives him the support he needs to succeed.
