Amen.

What people are forgetting is that the skillset to make a modern looking, user-friendly blog and internet discussion board is not the same skillset for gaining and leaking insider information on the Michigan football program.  Guys like Brian might have both going for them, but it makes sense becasue Brian is monetizing his blog, so he needs to be audience/user friendly.  But for other guys who just use their chatter as water-cooler talk, the premium on making the website look pretty just isn't there.

Obviously it remains to be seen whether or not these guys are proven right, but their vibe also seems like they aren't publicity seeking either.  I don't think the guys over there are also running Twitter accounts and trying to get clicks on their wanna-be sports reporter pages like "Those Who Stay 7".  It looks to me much more like they are guys in their 40's and older--not necessarily tech savvy--but put a premium on being involved and knowledgeable about the Michigan football team inside scoops.  Former players, boosters, etc.

Then other people (legit mainstream bloggers like Brian, writers like JUB, quality scouting & Michigan insider beat reporters, etc.) are better at aggregating the leaked news from various sources, packaging it up into a more comprehensive, digestible, and user-friendly format.

EDIT:  Ditto what Mr. Miggle wrote down below.  I didn't see his post before I put up mine, but basically what he said.

I think the Herbstreit Effect grips all the public figures surrounding this process. Just like we all have this irrational belief that saying, "Jim Harbaugh is coming!" will somehow change reality and make this un-happen. PTSD, I guess. I think every Michigan homer public figure will sit at their 85% figure until they get official word, and there's been no official word. Just a few people in the know, 98% who have their lips sealed.

pretty much every forum looked like that? They haven't kept up with the times, probably because they're content to be what they are. A small site where a lot of the posters know each other, not one flooded by kids and trolls. Not somewhere people constantly get banned and reappear with new IDs. MGoBlog is a commercial venture of a different type. That doesn't make the members here any better or more reliable.

I also report the deal is done. I'll report it today and tomorrow and the next day. Sooner or later, I'll be right and claim I broke the story.

Or, if it doesn't happen, I'll say that facts have changed and my sources were wrong. The I'll report Mikes has signed. I'll say that the day after it doesn't happen, and the next day, and the next day

It's easy, especially when I have zero idea what has actually happened.
