CC: 49ers not trading Harbaugh
According to Chris Balas tweet, Harbaugh will simply be fired, and not attempted to be traded.
This is good news for UM, yes?

No direct discussions with plan B candidates. They ARE having direct discussions with Harbaugh's agent.
To this point, the search firm has vetted and very preliminary discussions with plan b candidates ... not the UM.

Great news, because the 49ers only reason for firing Harbaugh is if they have worked something out with Hackett and Michigan and/or Harbaugh has already committed in some form to Michigan. You have to assume that all actors are going to do what's best for them. As the 49ers gain nothing by firing JH and letting him take his pick of NFL jobs without the 49ers getting anything in return, the only reason for them to fire him is if they know that he is definitely not taking another NFL job.
