CBSSports article on Harbaugh leaning towards returning to Michigan

The Cattening.

Wow, and these are the guys who were so adamant that Harbaugh would never the NFL and that Michigan fans were completely delusional for ever thinking otherwise.
But man am I tired of hearing "our sources indicate" and "our sources predict." I just want to hear from the main man himself.
Come home, Jimmy.

I do not like the A's

Whatever will be.....will be. I'll take the over on whatever for Harbaugh coming home to A2. It's in the wind, it's everywhere I go here.

Modern sports media on Michigan coaching search:
1. Post positive article about ______ coming
2. Post article claiming opposite of 1
3. Repeat

So, what we're saying here is that the pendulum is swinging in the direction of #1, correct? If so, I would welcome our new _________ overlords.
In all seriousness, the pendulum analogy sort of fits the last two weeks or so here in a way. We've thrilled at the "it's happening", been crestfallen at the "it's not happening" news. Soon, it will be over.

The NFL guys really won't ever admit to being wrong about this. Kind of annoying to watch them all furiously cover their asses rather than just try to report the facts (or admit they know none of them)
December 22nd, 2014 at 5:43 PM ^
has really pissed me off in this whole situation, I really appreciate that he has an M helmet on his bookshelf but he kinda deserves a punch in the face along with the rest of these "NFL Experts".
Assholes
December 22nd, 2014 at 5:53 PM ^
I say he deserves a nut punch.
Face punch is too honorable, too conventional, too bourgeois. Given the situation.

They collectively had bad info and went with it. They were a little arrogant but sheesh Michigan fans need to just get over it. We are Michigan fans we know a little bit about arrogance. Outside of the trolling SF beat writer there was little to be offended about just a nice lesson about modern journalism and how much fiction it really is.
December 22nd, 2014 at 6:51 PM ^
and they cannot fathom why someone would willingly leave their precious and insanely overrated NFL.

I stand corrected.

Agreed. I've felt very strongly inclined to tear his intro out of my Mich Daily History of Michigan Football book...
I won't do it, because, you know, I'd like it to stay nice and all. But it sure would be satisfying!
December 22nd, 2014 at 5:51 PM ^
Even more so than Kawasaki, I am looking forward to Roussel from FootballScoop eating a whole bunch of crow. Everytime news comes out to the contrary he just doubles down on the Michigan being inept. What an asshat.

Hold onto your butts and take it for what it may or may not be worth.... One of the people over at the Edge of the Internet (one of them that supposedly has good sources) just announced another hiccup. JH wants to wait to sniff our NFL jobs and only agreed on what he'd take IF he accepts UM HC. They're arguing if it's a troll or not. Regardless...it just makes me want to just say...

It has long been assumed by many -- including myself -- that even if Harbaugh left San Francisco at the end of the season, as he's expected to, he'd prefer to stay in the NFL rather than returning to his alma mater.
Credit to the author for man-ing up and admitting that he was wrong.
There, was that so hard?

Anything that is reported by the national pundits infuriates me.
They are quick to make proclamations directly from their inside sources, ignore the local/college media, then when they realize the local/college guys may be right, they slowly change their stance (pendulum swinging) without acknowledging they were WRONG.

Who exactly do you think is on that plane? Whose PJ is it?
December 22nd, 2014 at 6:50 PM ^
could be dunn...
December 22nd, 2014 at 6:44 PM ^
But the Coleman Young Airport would be easier to get in and out of without being noticed.
December 22nd, 2014 at 6:50 PM ^
Harbaugh had a press conference when the flight left so he's not on it.
December 22nd, 2014 at 6:53 PM ^
flight was originally supposed to leave at 11, but left at 12. could dunn have been working out final details? off to deliver the signed deal? cross referencing where that plane has been with dunn clients, seems like a stretch. but he does rep chip kelly and foles, and that plane has been to philly pretty recently.
December 22nd, 2014 at 6:57 PM ^
it's been flying in and out of soCal airports as well, dunn's agency HQ
December 22nd, 2014 at 6:56 PM ^
It just landed and its 3 miles from my house. I can probably get there and see who gets off. No that's crazy.
December 22nd, 2014 at 7:03 PM ^
haha. let's see how long it stays before taking off...if it's only there about 3 hours then heads back to california then it could be very interesting.
December 22nd, 2014 at 7:05 PM ^
That means nothing. EJA jets litter the air traffic system. They're the largest jet-share company with a huge fleet.
December 22nd, 2014 at 7:07 PM ^
probably true...but for a plane that mostly flies in california and has never been to detroit, coupled with all the chatter, makes me think it could mean something.

Awesome movie. Harrison Ford, Robert Shaw, Carl Weathers and a very naked Barbara Bach. The last thing Shaw's character says in the movie is useful for us as we congratulate ourselves on this "done deal" with Harbaugh.
Anyway, after the commando unit successfully infiltrates Nazi-held Yugoslavia and takes out a dam, preventing a German assault on allied forces. The team's feeling pretty good about themselves until Shaw says:
But before we can start awarding ourselves Victoria Crosses and Congressional Medals of Honor and so on and so forth and such like... I think I'd better point out that one, we're now on the wrong side of the river. That two, we have no hope whatsoever of rejoining the partisans. That three, this neck of the woods will soon be crawling with very bad-tempered Germans. And that four, I don't think our little genius Sergeant Miller there has even got a box of matches left in his suitcase. And so I think we can take it, gentlemen, that we're going to have a very long walk home.

David Dunn, Harbaugh's agent. As far a I can tell though Those Who Stay is just blowing smoke and has no real inside sources. Just a young kid with a Twitter account and a lot of time on his hands.

From an article immediately after Harbaugh accepted SF offer:
"While Harbaugh said he had all but made up his mind to accept the 49ers' offer following a meeting of more than six hours that went into Wednesday evening, he took a couple of days to hear out his other suitors and do his "homework" -- and "do some soul searching" as new 49ers general manager Trent Baalke put it.
"I knew in my heart and my gut the right decision was with the San Francisco 49ers," he said."
"The 49ers didn't put him on a deadline, telling Harbaugh, "There can't be any doubt in your mind," York said. Harbaugh asked for Thursday night to "sleep on it," then signed his deal Friday. He also informed Luck and his players at Stanford.
Harbaugh insists this move wasn't all about money. He reportedly had an offer for more from Miami.
"It wasn't the factor. I like a buck just like the next guy, but I love coaching and I love winning and I love football," he said. "The factor that dictated my being here was that Trent and Jed and the 49er organization wanted me to be here and I wanted to be here as much or more than they wanted me. Here I am.""
