CB Ross Douglas Decommits from PSU

Submitted by Chi-Blue on

not hinting at anything even though we were rumored to be interested in him a while back, just informative. On another note the NCAA gave full clearance for players to leave, does that include allowing players to transfer to other BIG TEN teams??

but as a PSA to everyone else on this board, please do not start a new thread everytime a recruit decommits or player decides to transfer, thanks in advance.

Yes, but there could be 3-5 guys per day over the next couple days that are decommitting/leaving the program, unless there's a UM connection I don't see it necessary, but feel free to disagree, I just won't click on them.  I really don't have my panties in a bunch over the sanctity of the board or anything like that.

The situation at PSU shouldn’t totally dictate posting. If interest in recruits warrant a post in a given situation, then the quantity that may occur shouldn’t negate the post.

If someone decommits from B1G schools, especially if they then pursue UofM or another B1G school that is of interest as it directly relates to our strength or a conference opponent.

There's something about this board in particular that causes many of the posters here have sand all in their vaginas when it comes to people creating new threads. You'll notice that the first reply to many if not most of the threads here tends to be some sort of criticism the OP for starting the thread. It's weird.

I hate to see Michigan fans acting like little b!tches.  If the time you "wasted" reading a thread that had already been covered was so damn valuable you wouldn't be spending time on a college sports message board to start with.  Just deal with it and only share your worthless opinion with somebody who cares ..... and that somebody would be nobody!

Just my 2 cents

...Let's remember that this isn't like OSU or USC where the victim was the NCAA's definition of amateurism.. and I've been a bit disgusted by everyone talking of gutting PSU's roster and commitment list...show some tact, people.

This thread was already deleted once.

I suggest editing your post asking for it to be deleted again.

We have 2 threads regarding PSU. Also, we can't have a new thread every time they lose a commit or someone transfers...it's going to be A LOT.

I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I think trying to limit this to one thread is a little silly... this is a complex situation with multiple facets, each of which could be examined and discussue seperately... what are the NCAA sanctions and what do you think of them?  What are the B1G sanctions and what do you think of them?  What will happen with current commitments and current players?

The problem with trying to contain this all in one thread is that if there is noly one aspect of this situation that I'm interested in discussing (for me it's the furute of the players), then I have to wade through a bunch of other stuff that I'm not interested in to try to find scattered posts about a specific topic.

Maybe in future days we can limit it back to one thread... but so much is going down today that I think multiple threads are warranted.

At last, someone with some common sense prevails! I'm with you, scrolling through hundreds to thousands of posts in one single thread is not even rational. With it being the off-season and this is the biggest story to rock the college football world ever, let's settle down the negativity on multiple threads folks.

I don't want to sift through 400 posts about sanction reactions to keep up with recruits/transfers

One thread for B1G fan sanction reactions, the other for the mass exodus.

Just mentioned on the B1G teleconference that the B1G would be as amenable as possible to all PSU student-athletes that wish to transfer within the conference. Becasue of the uniqueness to the situation, the student-athletes' interests have to be taken into consideration moreso than than some of the existing stipulations regarding intraleague transfers of the past.

IMO, this is probably the appropriate decision. There are a lot of kids who come from  the midwest and location is always a big factor in college decision--wouldn't be fair to limit their transfers to another conference in a different region.

The BIG got it right. I also agree with your comment about importance of location for mid west recruits. The players had nothing to do with what happened, and I applaud the BIG for recognizing that.

Are they going to let other B1G schools go over the 85 scholarship limit?  We can't add anyone to our roster without affecting either existing commits or current players (and neither of those things are going to happen).

This probably improves our position for 2014 LB Michael Ferns who had us as a finalist with PSU...

EDIT: "This" being the PSU situation in general... not Ross' decommit.  Treating this as a general recruiting/player thread in the wake of PSU sanctions.

Seriously, there is nothing wrong with a few threads reporting new/different PSU tidbits.  It's the off-season, this is the biggest story in college football in forever, and some days we have three threads talking about NCAA football dynasties.

I said this in another thread - let the mods delete the posts that say "Yay PSU burn in hell" or "I can't wait for Hoke to raid their cupboard" or something like that.  But I come here for college football news, and decommitments/transfers are that.  As long as the thread stays news-y and not celebratory, I see nothing wrong with it.

My first thought was that if they didn't want to come to Michigan in the beginning, we don't want them now.  On second thought however, maybe a DT like the Michigan kid (Zettle) that chose psu over Michigan a couple years ago, might not be a bad pickup.  Then again, probably should stick to my first thought.  Michigan - Champions and Best !

I love how deeply emotional you guys are, you act like some posts just absolutely ruin your day. You know you have the option to just "scroll" over it and not click on the post right?
