Cauley-Stein officially declared "doubtful" for Sunday

Submitted by bballislife22 on

At Calipari's press conference today, he said Cauley Stein is "... still in a boot... I'd say he's doubful." Adds that it is an ankle injury, not Achilles. Says that Cauley Stein wants to play but "I'd be stunned if he played."

This would be a big blow to Kentucky, as Cauley-Stein is considered to be a 1st round pick in this coming draft. This would bring Kentucky down to just two conventional big men, in Randle and Dakari Johnson. Kentucky will be forced to play small ball more than they would probably like to and more than they have had to all year.

Could be addition by subtraction. I think WCS is a terrific player (and would love if the Bullls drafted him) but that means more PT for Poythress who is a better perimeter match-up.

Oh wait...

Burke thought bubble: "Maybe if you had watched a little more film you would have seen this coming..."

Horford thought bubble: "I lament that I must strike my own friend Caris across the face in order to maintain balance in the universe on this most extravagantly joyous occasion."

Beilein thought bubble:  "I just can't figure out why no one will scout us... Is it me?"

Collective thought bubble:  "HOW YA LIKE ME NOW??!"

Floiida obviously needed to scout us a litte bit harder.  They were leaving Stauskas completely unguarded during that game last year like they had never even heard of him.

I really hope we start like we did vs. Texas and run every chance we get. Ridley was gassed halfway through the first and Dakari on UK will be the same way if he has to double his minutes due to WCS being out. That gives us a chance to focus on the Man-Bear-Pig monster known as Julius Randle.

I would be happy if he doesn't play not that I wish a serious injury but just one that will not make him play vs. Michigan.   I wanted to play Louisville cause I thought we matched up better against them.    Kentucky is huge and with Randle and Johnson we are gonna have a tough time on defense but hopefully it creates matchup problems for them.   Whoever guards Glenn Robinson out of Johnson and Randle Glenn has to be aggressive and make them be in foul trouble.   This is one team I didn't want to face cause of their talent and size.    But I think we can win if we can make 3s and have virtually no turnovers.   Force Kentucky to foul us know their bits especially.    Jon Horford is gonna have to have a hell of a game when he is in.

GO BLUE!!  FINAL FOUR AGAIN

Winning recipe: Michigan shoots season average from three, single digits in turnovers, and keeps Kentucky's OReb % under 50.

There's your coinflip. Still waiting for Stauskas to go off like Florida last year, tomorrow would be a great time for that.
