Catholic and Think ND Sucks?

Submitted by Chunks the Hobo on
Sorry if this has been done to death, but... You know how Notre Dame is always played up as "the" Catholic university? And how, like, you know, Catholics should maybe cheer for them because of that? Well, this hobo's a Catholic hobo and he still thinks ND's an overrated sinkhole full of insufferable bores occupying a patch of ground in one of the places of the earth that God has definitely abandoned, aka South Bend. Who's with me? Anti-ND Catholics represent! And Go Blue saecula saeculorm!* *Latin nerds or more attentive Catholics will undoubtedly be correcting this.

RE: Academics ND is definitely a top-level institution, I'd say. The big difference academically between ND & Michigan is that Michigan is good at *everything*, whereas ND has strong areas, and then much more average areas (being a much smaller school). RE: Sports Their stadium staff may be nice to media, but they stole my sign I tried to bring to the game last year. :( I think that's an NBC policy, though (doesn't make it less stupid, of course). The fans I sat near were all pretty nice.

Not only am I catholic, I grew up in Indianapolis. I'm back here after graduation (09 UM grad!), and I really didn't miss having random Notre Dame fans coming out of the woodwork. They are almost worse than OSUcks fans because only about 10% of ND fans actually went there. I'm a super proud catholic who is super proud to hate Notre Dame with a firey passion. I'll be there tomorrow cheering them on, GO BLUE! God hates notre dame!

i have my undergrad and grad degree from michigan. my father-in-law has his undergrad and grad degree from notre dame ( btw-I spit my beer out when my now wife asked me how i felt about notre dame on our first date). we're both practicing catholics, my children his grandchildren go to catholic grade schools and high schools (as i did) and yes he thinks catholics are on nd's side and he and his buddies think god is on their side. as i tell them - that's okay you need all the help you can get!

That certainly counts...you don't have to be in the Club to hate Notre Dame! But it's like the family uncle who still wears a leisure suit...we know him so much better than his casual friends do, so we have a deeper understanding of what a douche he is.

I'm Catholic and I cannot stand Notre Dame. God used to be on Notre Dame's side. But then for the love of money the Irish covered up touchdown Jesus. Big mistake. I will be praying for a great big MEEEEECHIGAN victory! God bless Rodriguez. God bless the players. God bless Michigan!

As a graduate of the University of Dayton, a Catholic University, I total agree with you. A lot of my friends are from the Fort Wayne area and are totally up Notre Dame's ass. As far as I am concerned, Boston College is the Catholic University par exellenc. So, FUCK NOTRE DAME. I get so sick of hearing about how ND is the shit and how any Catholic should root for them. As far as I am concerned, God is an M fan and Bo is one of the archangels up in Heaven. As a theology graduate, your Latin seems okay (but I'm drunk, so who the hell knows?! I just invited an Indian student to my place to watch the game tomorrow because I know of no M bars in Dayton.) Anti-ND Catholic all the way! Go Blue!!! I walked through the UD student neighborhood tonight chanting "Go Cinci-naaat-ti! Fuck! Ohio! State! Go BLUE!" I'll be at the Eastern game next week next week and would love to meet up with some true M fans. Who's game? I'm so sick of having to live among OSU fans for the last 20 or so years!

By far some of the worst fans to deal with are ND fans. I'm Catholic too, and they embarrass me. Jerks. FYI Wisconsin are the next worst fans. Not mean, just loud and rowdy.
