Carroll Theory

Submitted by Sobinator on

I think Pete stays at USC. He will hold a press conference and tell us all how he couldn't leave these wonderful kids and loves USC. That USC is so great even a great offer at Seattle wasn't enough to get him to go.

He then looks like a hero to all these kids, hauls in another fantastic recruiting class, and uses this to solidify future classes.

Just a theory, no inside info here. Of course, he could hold a press conference tomorrow wearing Seattle gear.

I think this is all part of some elaborate new reality show Coach Swap. Carrol is going to Florida and Meyer is going to USC. Michigan is in the process of either swapping with LSU, Stanford, or MSU

Just heard Olbermann state that Petey is meeting with the owner of the Seahawks, in southern California, on Monday. Considering that Kyle Prater can't seem to reach any of the USC coaching staff (according to another MGoBlog poster), I'm thinking Pete might be on his way to the Great Northwest. I hope he takes his OC with him (to prevent him being hired by the Bears).

ESPN has been reporting for most of the day that everything is done. Chris Mortensen seems to have someone on the inside in Seattle.

There was also an article stating not so fast my friend. Apparently they're real close to an agreement, but they don't have one in place yet.

Frankly, I'd be pissed if PC teased us with open season on his recruits and then turned around and came back.

I theorize that Pete likes money and that he especially likes a lot of money, like $35 million or more. I theorize he does not like scholarship limitations, sanctions and scholarship limitations.

I've seen Carroll is a Seahawk.

The only delay is that the Seahags want to comply with the Rooney rule.

As soon as the Seahags interview a minority candidate, Carroll will be introduced as the head coach and some sort of executive position.

Barring Carroll going American Psycho this thing is set in stone.

I heard Carroll only eats black market panda liver. Global warming has caused the price to go up to point where he needs at least 6.5 million per year to eat.

No way he returns to USC. I think this has been brewing for a while.

He was an NFL head coach with the Jets for a year and the Patriots for three before being fired. His teams did have some success. I have always believed those were disappointments he intended to vindicate and now he will have his chance.

This will be interesting to watch.

As has been speculated everywhere, the most probably theory is that Pete the cheat is leaving town before the NCAA hammer comes down. In support of this theory, I offer the following:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/george_dohrmann/01/05/usc…

This happened the same time that Carroll first met with Seahawk officials:

No school self sanctions except to try to avoid more severe penalties down the road. Given the violations in both football and basketball are so obvious that even the NCAA is forced to notice, outside imposed sactions are likely for football and perhaps the ultimate punishment is coming for basketball. Sothern Cal ballers may want to check out the depth charts at other schools.
