Carl Hagelin Article

Submitted by mattbern on

I just came across this article about Carl Hagelin on the NY Rangers 20 Prospects in 20 Days website.  It's a pretty good read, basically telling us what we already know (Hagelin is awesome).  Anyway, I found it interesting that the Rangers scout who found him in Sweden was the same guy who found Lidstrom, Federov, and others.

It would be great if the Wings got him, but after reading an article like this one and some previous work put out by the Rangers, its clear that he is valued extremely high with their management in the organzation and it would require a lot from the Wings (or any other team) for the Rangers to think about trading him.

Interesting... or telling.

Also, the best part about breaking out in college like the article says is that he isn't done yet. He should have had at least one more assist last season, too. Just like Red should have at least 700 wins right now.

So let me get this straight, Rangers Director of Player Personnel is saying Carl has gotten better while playing for Red Berenson?  Dean Lombardi, you can still go to hell.

"I remember I really thought we were going to be able to go to the Frozen Four and watch him play there along with Chris Kreider, Ryan McDonagh and Derek Stepan," said Gordie Clark, the Rangers' Director, Player Personnel. "I was disappointed that Michigan didn't make it."

Ugh, thanks for that painful memory Gordie.
