Caris LeVert Making Himself at Home in Brooklyn (NY Times)

Now that he's healthy and getting more [good] minutes...

How Caris LeVert, a Rookie With the Brooklyn Nets, Spends His Sundays.

A couple tidbits: Comparing the city to his pre-Ann-Arbor home...

My mom is a retired teacher, so she comes to visit a lot. She loves to go out and see the city. We go out to dinner; we go shopping together. She loves seafood, and New York has way better seafood options than central Ohio, so we take advantage of that.

And a selfish choice, a 20-something's NYC impressions connecting with a long-ago 20-something's memories:

Now I can explore a bit. I just found the Cage, in the West Village, which is famous for pickup basketball games. Sometimes I just stop by places like that, talk to guys on the court. I love how basketball can be this really competitive thing, but also it can be a couple of friends shooting hoops on the playground.

As a newbie to the city I did extra work on a film, as "a village type" watching a pick-up game through the fence of the Cage.  (Never knew that's what it was called.)

I love that he's bonding with his teammates and that so many of them live in Brooklyn. What a fun experience! And I'm not surprised he's into fashion. I loved his draft suit :)

Finally some good fortune for someone who has suffered from hard luck injuries. NYC is the best spot to land for a single guy beginning their career. I know, I was one. Met my wife while attending NYU Law, got my first legal job there and had a great time there.

Thanks for posting. I love the way Caris has overcome the bad stuff in his life. He is an inspiration. I wish for him only good things moving forward. Go Blue!

It's a shame what happened to Caris at Michigan. Injuries derailed what could have been a jersey retiring type of career. Wish him nothing but the best, and I am betting on him to be rookie of the year. Only 20 at 35 to 1, but let's hope I am collecting my money in june.
