#Michigan is showing interest in 2012 Pickerington Central SG, Caris LeVert. Ohio U granted him his release from LOI last week and UM has it.

Ohio North-South All-Star games: LeVert’s three at buzzer gives South win

Make no mistake: all-star basketball is only a cheap imitation of the sport played from December through March that features teamwork, defense and fundamentals.

Regardless of the season, however, the object of the game is to put the ball in the basket, and few players can deliver in the clutch like Pickerington Central senior guard Caris LeVert.

Only a month after helping the Tigers to the Division I state championship, LeVert knocked down a three-pointer as time expired as his South team edged the North 116-114 yesterday in the Division I-II contest, highlighting four Ohio North-South all-star games at Capital University.

LeVert, who finished with 23 points and six rebounds, ran to virtually the same spot from which he’d buried a three-pointer at the 29-second mark. Gary Akbar of Dayton Dunbar penetrated into the lane and dished to LeVert for the winner.

“I didn’t know for sure I was going to get the ball on the last possession, but once I did get it, I knew as soon as it left my hand it was going in,” LeVert said.

South coach Ed Calo of Westerville South said it was same kind of shot LeVert made all season. “ Those were two monster shots,” Calo said. “Caris is the kind of player who is absolutely fearless. He lives for that moment.”

This would totally make up for losing to them in the first round of the tourney!

edit: Also, maybe it'd be better to block-quote the article. Simple copy-pasting looks a bit plagiaristic.

The title of this post leaves a lot to be desired. Just sayin'.

Anybody know anything about this guy? Why are we looking at him after (seemingly) turning ADV away?

This kid can play.He is a combo guard. He is 6'4-6'5, but he is VERY skinny.

I saw him put in on Wormley's Toledo Whitmer team in the state playoffs.

I love his game a lot more than ADV's, so if this is who they had in mind to stop recruiting ADV, well I personally love it, He can get his own shot in addition to having an above average jumper. I hope they can reel him in.

He was JJHuddle's (An Ohio HS Sports website) player of the year. He joins the company of Burke, Sullinger, Buford, and Diebler for that award.

This kid is the reason Whitmer (Chris Wormley's BB team...a couple pictures below of #44 playing BB) didn't win the D1 Championship...here are two articles from the Toledo Blade about the D1 Ohio championship game.

From the 1st article posted above...

The difference in the game proved to be Central's Caris LeVert, who topped all scorers with 20 points, including 11 in the third quarter before Whitmer's Smith decided to double-team the smooth-shooting 6-4 senior anytime he even looked toward the basket.

"They had a superb talent in [LeVert]," Smith said. "We did everything we possibly could against him, but he made that crossover and pretty much got any shot he wanted."

"For the first time we met somebody with the same physicality as us under the basket. We didn't get a whole lot of easy baskets. We had to scrap and claw for every good look that we had."

And, at the end, after LeVert hit two free throws to get the Tigers back on top

Taught him several years ago. He was a good kid, a tad quiet if I recall correctly.

Pick-central is a good place to start a pipeline.

look at his game.  Kid is a stud.  Very athletic and a good shooter.  If he can fill out his frame, he would be a very good SG for JB as a 3 year player.  He's a definition of a sleeper but will surprise once he bulks up.
