Captains to be voted on today; who ya got?

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Per the twitters.

Desmond Morgan is the obvious candidate. I'm hoping we have only two captains, offensive and defensive.

I'll say Drake Johnson for the offensive captain.

I'd mark out if Harbaugh went old, old school and just had ONE team captain.

Peppers would be the youngest team captain in exactly 60 years.

Joe Ponsetto was a sophomore QB who served as the 1945 team captain. This was during the WWII period when freshmen were cleared to play Varsity due to the chaos the draft caused on college teams.

70 - every losing season between today and 1945. Gets you 60 exactly.

2014, 2009, 2008, 1967, 1965, 1963, 1962, 1959, 1958, and 1951. That is some Wolverine math for you.

We'll just assume this is what he meant by 60 exactly.

Peppers would be a great captain, but I don't know about Rudock. While he is the likely starting QB, Jake is also the new kid on the block. If that doesn't prevent his becoming a captain, then I'm all for it and his starting. That would be a great sign if he is voted a captain because that obviously means he is trusted. Plus, if he is voted a captain and we here the news today, then clearly he is the starting QB.

an ILB - especially when they are experienced. That means you have your leadership centered.

Hoping for Bolden or Morgan and Kalis or Glasgow. Peppers sounds like a motivational leader, and he's been leading the knowlege charge in the film room - so perhaps him as well.

Rudock would also be a very interesting sign (look how well Wisconsin did when Wilson came in and was captain as a grad transfer).

2 LB? Hmmm, sounds unlikely.

How about Morgan, Kerridge, Peppers as reps of D, O, ST... I guess Jabrill seems unlikely as well, but I just can't think of any returnees who really stood out on ST the past couple years.

Let's call Peppers being the C of ST as a statement of Meritocracy over class standing... Revolutionary!!!

Normally I'd say that a football captain is someone who needs to display some kind of moral grounding, but Golson may very well be the best bet.

Sure he plagiarized, but that probably makes him a choir boy compared to the rest of his teammates down in Tallahassee.
