Cap Cleaning
Just ran my 2007 white "Michigan Football" cap with "ESPN College Gameday" on the back tab through the dishwaser top rack for the 50th time. If you treat the sweat-stained spots with stain-remover prior to loading in the top rack of the dishwasher, your cap generally comes out perfectly clean. Anyone have an advanced technique for keeping your caps perfect?

and its maintenance, is definitely not OT. My family does the same thing with their hats, and they last a long time. I'm more of a hooded sweatshirt kind of guy myself.

Info. about cleaning Michigan gear is never OT in my book.
Well I suppose it is the off season...
I've had hats fade using this method but maybe its just my dish washer. Another problem I've encountered was darker colors bleeding into lighter colored areas.
i was just concerned that the colors might fade as well.
I have a plastic hat frame that the hat goes in before it goes in the dishwasher. Makes it even better!
When I clean my hats to get rid of the sweat stains I usually just get some soap on a rag and scrub away. That way I can be sure that nothing will bleed since I can control what gets soaked and how much.
I read your comment and all I could hear in my head was fat Bart Simpson saying, "I wash myself with a rag on a stick." I would post the video here, but I haven't figured that out via the app yet (if it's even possible).
can anyone explain why board posts with over 35 comments always reset to the main screen within about 5 seconds of tapping them? Extremely frustrating.
Try checking the embedded flash video box in settings, this turns it off. I havn't had this problem since taking this step.

I thought for sure this was a thread about NFL teams struggling to get under the salary cap today and who they would be cutting.
As for hats, I'm one of those dudes that's like a some of those baseball players you will see. I've never cleaned a hat. The closest I've come is wearing one while I was swimming. In fact, I once had a white hat back in high school that looked too white so I went out of my way to dirty it up a bit.
But anything I've ever had to clean I did successfully through either Shout, FelsNaptha (sp?) and or toothpaste.
are supposed to grimy and filthy, ESPECIALLY white ones. The colors are supposed to fade and the embroidery is supposed to get weatherbeaten and grungy. It's like a rite of passage, or a testimony to your journey with that hat. You wear the wear and tear with pride.
I can't be the only one...
but if mine is soiled, i usually have it dry cleaned.
on gentle cycle and put the hat on the top of the load. Don't put it in the dryer, just let it air dry, and once or twice while trying stretch it out by putting your fists in the cap area and twisting gently. Saved multiple "franchise" style caps this way.
Also, if you have a cap with the plastic backing on the inside, cut it out carefully before washing... the cap will look more broken in and the plastic netting with actually warp in the washing machine or dryer making your hat look like a permanent dimple is on it.

I still have my Michigan boxer shorts from 1993. No matter how hard I try, I can't get the sh-t stains out. They don't smell though, so I wear them anyway.
Is this OT? No, can't be because the boxer shorts have the block "M" on them, right?
