Can We Have A New Front Page Lead Story, Please?

Submitted by MaizeMN on

I know it's been a bit slow in the MGoNews Department since the last two big commits and Kareem debacle, but seeing the Pipkins headline every time I hit F5 is starting to bring me down. So if it's not too much trouble, could the Mods put something new up, please?

Possible Choice Include:

A New Commit (this would be great, but is beyond control)

A Pictue Of Denard For No Reason (a personal favorite)

A Harbaugh Photoshop Montage (plenty of fodder for this one)

A  "There Are" Post (always nice to see and timely)

A MGo BBQ recipe (I really enjoyed these abd It IS BBQ season)

Anything positive would be welcome, and perhaps you other MGoBlog aficionados can offer some suggestions...

I would probably pay for the site to support the guys here now that you mention it.

A suggestion for a topic: There must be game prediction software that can predict outcomes of each game based on previous performances of players or projected average performances of new starters.  Factors such as fewer turnovers, spread kick returns with likely better field position, harbaugh play calling against likely bgtn defenses etc.   Couldn't this be infused into likely game results and a probable won/loss prediction other than opinions?   My opinion is they are going to win every game and if they don't it's the refs fault.

I was about to post a link to their BBQ Manifesto site but noticed the following unacceptable statement published there: Want to make your next corporate event a little less khaki? Here's how. That's it, I will not patronize Smoque anymore as a matter of solidarity. Perhaps we should put something football-related up instead.

You know, when I am working these storms, the relative lack of updates and subsequent activity actually work out for me in the few moments I have in these times to actually read and mod around here. That, and this tends to be a period where sometimes a new thread will not appear for a good 12 hours (late June into July), so it isn't all that shocking.

In your spare time, you must have so much of it I know (cough), write some basic breakdowns of the football rules or somesuch. Keep things very simple, don't presume that everybody here knows the basics of the game - I still have more to learn despite being a former player and fan of football. When there is a slow news day, put up the canned stuff. At the very least it will provide us with a target to b**** and moan about. And there are cat photos - "caption this image, win nothing."

Its about The Team, The Team, The Team.

Sometimes that means saying goodbye to a mate for the good of the team.

Yeah and I'm sure they'll put more unicorn wishes and sea monkey dreams up there monday.

(Go have some Uncle Bug's Creamery!)

Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but I almost never pay attention to the front page.  I always go as quickly as possible to the updated posts page to see what's happening on the blog.  If there's any important breaking news, some poster usually has a thread about it before Brian or one of the mods can get a story written.  This is in no way a complaint.  It takes more time to generate a few paragraphs of coherent thought than to write a title and create a link.
