Cam Akers Visit Cancelled

Submitted by redjugador24 on

Per Sam Webb, Akers' visit this weekend is cancelled, and the interwebs are stating he'll be at LSU this weekend instead. Not necessarily horrible news as he was a longshot & 2nd fiddle, but not great news either.

Never thought we had much traction with him. Hell of a player though. Harris could be utterly dominant in the B1G a few years from now.

The fact is that whichever one signs with us is the better, more complete back. Akers is overrated (unless he flips last minute), and Harris is way better. As long as he commits and if not, he's afraid of competition and Harbaugh didn't want him anyway. Or something like that

Some people don't like running backs that are 6'3", even though there are a fair number of examples of solid 6'3" running backs (Derrick Henry, Brandon Jacobs, Eddie George, etc.). The fact is that most kids get weeded out of playing RB when they're that height, but that doesn't mean the ones who stick can't be good.

and I think the coaches are putting all their eggs in the Harris basket, who we have a great shot at flipping his commit. Akers probably knows this also.

Personally, I like him every bit as much, if not more than Harris. I think Akers skills will translate really well to the college game. I'm not complaining though, having to pick between Harris and Akers is a good problem to have.
