Great win--it's better with all three playing together. I don't care if it's a day early, it's good to be playing for a championship. March 19th starts a New Year.
Calm, Measured Reaction to the Miami Win
Simply amazing. Let's put the 2010-2011 stamp on the end of 2009-2010. Go Blue! Big win boys!
Holy shits! Looks like it's against NMU for the tournament.
Yeah i am thrilled to be in the championship game but it means nothing if we lose to NMU. As many of us discussed earlier in the week we need to win the CCHA to go to the NCAA tourney, as we would need to jump up to 14th from our current 16th (If we don't win the CCHA).
reminded me of the 1980 Olympic team, those red and white sweaters today kind of add to that haha.
One more. Then muppets.
Don't jinx us with premature muppetulation.
Lighten up Francis...
I feel you, but I'm happy now, and I want to celebrate. It's been a long year--in many, many ways.
Yeah, it's not like we beat the number two team in the country or anything.
My thoughts exactly.
Great win, no doubt about that, but we're not getting an at large bid to the tournament. The next game is more important than the last.
Since you didn't see it in the OP:
or, more specifically:
Wow, my first viewing of a Hockey game. Found myself jumping up cheering after every goal. Think i will have to brush up on my hockey knowledge to better support our beloved Wolverines. 2010 is just the beginning. GO BLUE!!
I'm buying the $9 Molsons tomorrow night
I'll be sure to find you if this is true
I've got Red's pregame speech for them tomorrow right here...
"Lose this game tonight, and you'll take it to your fucking grave."
"You're fucking grave."
Who felt the need to add the lyrics for Peanut Butter Jelly Time?
It can be hard to follow.
Who tries to follow the lyrics?
OBTW for next time, a better version of Hawaiian War Chant without all the extra stuff before and after: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FM6im0588OU
Sorry--note heavy sarcasm. The first one I embedded was The Onion's video about a 5000+ team NCAA tournament. It was really weird, and I wanted to make the end of the game.
Thanks for the Hawaiian War Chant info.
It really needs the little bouncing ball so you can stay in rhythm.
Wait, I did that the wrong way. Oh well...
Near the end of the game I saw a guy with a varsity jacket walking up to leave.
A group of people also noticed, and when he got closer, it turned out to be Tate. He motioned for us to make some noise and yelled a little bit before he exited.
I guess even there ARE some hockey fans in San Diego.
Forget Tate. David Cone made an appearance.
I know, I was more excited about that sighting myself
The easiest one to see was just a little taller than Tate. I saw Ben Cronin hanging out at the game as well. I am pretty sure I didn't make it up to his armpit.
Tate, Cone, Shaw (no M jacket) and Cronin were all there
NMU played 3 periods and 4ots today! Here's hoping they are exhausted tomorrow for the championship game...
They scored a minute into the first and only OT.
I don't know what you were looking at, but whatever it was, it was probably a "4" meant to denote that it was the first overtime (3+1).
Woohoo!!! Time to turn it on!
Rush the court?
Thank you hockey team for making The Winter of Infinite Sadness a little more bearable. One more win and it's party time in Detroit!
That tic-tac-toe goal was amazing!
Good win. Now do it again.
Bork! Bork! Bork!
That was a nice passing play, but it was assisted by the worst line change in the history of hockey.
I'm waiting for our walk-on goalie to get his own "Rudy" story.
It was amazing how they absolutely demolished Miami tonight. They won all the battles and out worked the Red Hawks all over the ice. There were alot of Michigan fans there and everyone was loud.
When the playoffs started, this team needed 10 wins....well we are half way there....but it does not mean anything if they do not win tomorrow
You probably didn't get the memo that they've changed their name to the Miami "Red-HOTS".
Consider yourself informed.
Could you shed a little more light on that though? lol
I picked a helluva time to attend my first UM hockey game tonight
i picked a helluva time to stop sniffing glue
he hasn't allowed a single 5x5 goal since replacing hogan in the notre dame game
It's official, UM FELL to 19 in the Pairwise rankings with the results of the games tonight. Thus, as we all know by now,a win vs. Northern is mandatory to make the NCAAs! We are playing our best right now. Go Blue!
i dont even understand how that could happen
Teams behind us beat teams they were close to, switching comparisons. Obviously we didn't flip the Miami comparison because: duh.
yeah. i just wonder sometimes why we use a system where you can DESTROY the #2 team in the country and then fall 3 spots. howeva. we have to win tomorrow regardless so here's to one more big W
just relaxing, enjoying the clinic we laid on those fools. let's bag ourselves a league championship tomorrow...
Nice to see the teams' reaction to winning. No big celebration. No charging the ice. As big a win as this was, they know they haven't won anything yet.
Let's get one more and hang a banner!
Irrespective of what happens against Northern, you have to give this team all the credit in the world for playing with heart and determination. They could have let up against MSU or Miami but they kept playing hard. Now they just have to show up and beat Northern (which is very doable), and they will be skating for another NC. Great story.
I have a question for the Pairwise experts - is Northern Michigan in the NCAA tournament regardless of the outcome of tonight's game?
Michigan going all the way?
Does this seem like our version of the miracle on ice. After beating the heavily favored Russian we still have to win another game, in which we are the underdog.
