C-Webb Sings The Victors

Submitted by Spunky on

During the Clippers-Mavericks game last night, the play-by-play announcer asked what team will Kansas face on Friday, and Chris Webber responded by humming "The Victors," which I think is a wonderful reply.

There is a clip with sound of the exchange at  http://www.annarbor.com/mi/wolverines/2013/03/video_ex-michigan_star_chris_w/

Webber isn't vocal about his support of the team, like Jalen and others, so I found it interesting and somewhat surprising. Please delete and forgive a newb if this isn't thread worthy, though.

I'm sure I didn't see you in Crisler in the depths of the Amaker era, then. No postseason, no enthusiasm, no fans.

Just because we're winning now doesn't mean we forget the sheer hell the Ed Martin scandal wrought on this program, the bulk of which directly concerned the shoebox where Chris and Mayce Webber stashed about $160,000.

Let's not forget that Chris is responsible for the RR hire, the Lions record over the past 40 years and climate change.  Oh wait...famine...that's him too!

Tom Goss and Ed Martin hurt the program far more than any Fab5 scandal.  Unless Chris blackmailed the school into hiring Ellerbe and the Mock Turle, and refused to allow them to invest funds into the bball program, then the dropoff wasn't his fault.  Many schools have recovered quickly from sanctions; they just didn't have to dig out from terrible no-name coaches like Ellerbe.
