C Ryan Kelly to announce, probably not choosing M?

Submitted by touchdown chad henne on

Just saw via ESPN's on the trail Twitter account that center Ryan Kelly will announce his choice today at 4:30.

Kelly recently put Michigan in a top group, but with the amount of buzz surrounding M before Jake Fisher's announcement and the comparative lack of buzz around Kelly, I'm inclined to believe he's headed elsewhere. We'll see...

Never give up hope...if he's being recruited there's always a chance.  Recruits have commited with tons of hype for us, with tons of hype for another school, and with no hype at all.

To be fair, Fisher is an in-state kid who was deciding between two in-state schools, while Kelly is out-of-state recruit who happens to have us in his "top 5".

The probability that we would land Fisher was extremely high, much more so than most of the other guys you'll hear about this recruiting cycle.

So the lack of buzz surrounding Kelly compared to Fisher shouldn't really be a surprise or any cause for concern. Same goes for most of the other out-of-state guys that Michigan is recruiting.

Ohio State ever offer Kelly?

With such a sudden announcement date my fear is that OSU offered sometime last week and Kelly now has the offer he was waiting for.  I hope I'm wrong

Meh. I actually hope they DID offer him and that he chooses UM over OSU.

The next best thing to beating Ohio State is having an Ohio recruit choose us over them.

No school likes losing in-state recruits to out-of-state rivals, but this REALLY pisses OSU people off more than most. See, e.g., thier hatred toward Desmond.

Well, then we're done with OC recruiting, as Jack Miller will be our OC recruit.  Fisher gives us one OT, and if we land Posada, then we're done with OT recruiting.  We'll need 2 OGs; my money is on Walsh and Bryant.  5 guys should complete our OL recruiting for this class.

Kelly is listed (on Scout) as 6"5" and 280.  That's a guy who could easily move to G.

Pace, and Molk, are prototypical Centers who would have a huge size disadvantage at Guard.  If Kelly wanted to come to UM and compete with Pace and Khoury for Center the competition would be welcomed.  But, if it is Pace at Center there will be a spot waiting for him at Guard.
