BYU @ UCLA - Open Thread

Submitted by soupsnake on
There's over 700 posts in the night games thread. Some people were asking for a dedicated thread for next week's opponent. Here you go. BYU up 10-3 at halftime

Bound to run out eventually nice to see the game end on an INT rather than a TD, at some point flipping the coin is going to come up tails. UCLA's offense finally worked when they went hurry up, unfortunately not sure if this is something Michigan can take advantage of.

I'm glad we play them at home, since BYU is a better team than Utah. It will be interesting to see if our DLINE can get any pressure on Magnum. If he's given time he could pick apart our secondary. I hope Rudock works on those passing routes. We need some deep passes to keep BYU defense from focusing on our running game. I just hoe for a close game than we can win!

I have confidence that our defense and special teams can handle themselves with BYU.  My main concern is with the offense and with the 5th year quarterback and his inaccurate passing.  If the offense cannot open up with some deep completions all respect will be lost and BYU will load up for the run.

I think it just depends on the team. Some teams learn from a loss and get better, while others lose confidence, question leadership and play worse. At the end of the day, this loss probably has little effect on how BYU plays Saturday. I think the one good thing that can come from it for us is that it gives the coaches more game tape of what was effective against BYU.

in a position as a program to care about whether a team in ranked or unranked when they play.  We just need wins and to look like progress is being made.

Michigan isn't going to get ranked this year unless crazy things happen.  This is a serviceable team with a couple big holes that separate it from Top 25 programs.

I don't think it really matters that they lost. Gonna be a tough test regardless of what happened to them yesterday. We are not going t shove their D-line around. Gonna have to make some plays in the passing game.
