I agree with your logic, but I think there's a few other things to consider:
- Michigan is already receiving a few votes even at 1-1 after Saturday's game (5 votes in Coaches Poll)
- Michigan's one loss, Utah is likely 3-0 entering week 4
- Michigan could potentially demolish UNLV, putting up ridiciuous stats (which helps in rankings even when the level of competition is low)
- The winged helmet and Harbaugh are worth at least a handful of un-merited votes
- The narrative of Michigan football is starting to shift from a struggling program of yester-year to a restoration to power.
- Other folks are going to lose and fall

its plausible

Don't count on it. We lost to a now-ranked Utah team, which isn't so bad, but beat and will have beat a bad PAC 12 team and a bad Mountain West team. That doesn't scream top-25.

Not to be a Negative Nancy or anything, but you really think we'll be ranked if we win this week? I can't see that happening.
September 14th, 2015 at 12:19 PM ^
But we will be ranked after we beat BYU in two weeks!

This is good. The mormons' body clock won't be ready for the kickoff. We should win.

Another confidence boosting game with UNLV is just what we need heading into a tough BYU matchup.

They also played on the road against GA Southern, the defending Sun Belt champions, this past weekend. Got rocked 43-17. Their non-con this year is brutal.

Good for the sake of time zone difference, but bad for me because I prefer 3:30 and later. I'm sure the time zone thing is the main factor, though.

Love noon games on the road, but hate them at home. Pretty much mandates that you have to wake up really early on a Saturday to do any significant tailgating.
Oh well, will be fun regardless.

perspective on BYU's win over Boise. I heard BSU didn't do themselves any favors, and it was at LaVell Edwards stadium, but that made me nervous ... or is Boise just not as good as advertised this year?

Selfishly I love noon kicks, living in Atlanta, but I completely understand west coasters like you being frustrated by it.

I either watch from the comfort of my house with a nice cup of coffee or I head to the Michigan bar for some breakfast and beers. Good times all around!

Yeah, you can kiss that goodbye when you have kids. Most kid Saturday activities (and they always have Saturday activities) conflict with a noon to 3:00 game. A 3:30 start gives you a fighting chance to see a game or a large part of it.

Bo would have approved. Noon is closer to 1 than 3:30.

but I usually don't care what Bo would think

I do for some things but not this. The "if a TV crew wants to cover it, that's fine" quote isn't exactly timeless.

Yeah, noon games suck. I'm in the central time zone so it's 11 for me. Luckily that's about nap time for the girls.

Love noon games. Can't seem to concentrate on earlier games anyway if we're playing in the afternoon or evening. To MGoEAch, his/her MGoOwn, I guess.

The 20yo in me loves the early game, but the 45yo in me likes the later game. 20yo me is too impatient/excited to wait for the later game; 45yo me wants to get some stuff done before the game

I am out west game starts at 9 over by noon leaves me all day to finish things. 20 yo me would just be rolling over in a wiskey induced stupor.
September 14th, 2015 at 5:56 PM ^
Why would you want Michigan football to be "over with" early? We wait all year for it. It's the highlght of the day, not something to just get out of the way.

Are any of you in mine? That's the day of mine and I would prefer to have the game out of the way before the nuptuals.
September 14th, 2015 at 12:19 PM ^
I don't know how much influence the AD has on setting game times but a friend in the department said Harbaugh was pushing hard for this to be at noon due to the time zone difference and wanted to take advantage of it if possible.
September 14th, 2015 at 12:31 PM ^
This wouldn't surprise me. Just hope it's the last home noon game of the season besides OSU.

Noon starts mean more football for me when I get home from the game. Therefore yay noon starts.
September 14th, 2015 at 12:32 PM ^
Course that theory didn't work well versus Oregon State and their opening drive...

There isn't going to be a home night game this year.
September 14th, 2015 at 12:38 PM ^
for those of us who actually go to the games. Just not enough time for a decent tailgate even as a grad student
