I agree with your logic, but I think there's a few other things to consider:

  • Michigan is already receiving a few votes even at 1-1 after Saturday's game (5 votes in Coaches Poll)
  • Michigan's one loss, Utah is likely 3-0 entering week 4
  • Michigan could potentially demolish UNLV, putting up ridiciuous stats (which helps in rankings even when the level of competition is low)
  • The winged helmet and Harbaugh are worth at least a handful of un-merited votes
  • The narrative of Michigan football is starting to shift from a struggling program of yester-year to a restoration to power.
  • Other folks are going to lose and fall

Love noon games on the road, but hate them at home. Pretty much mandates that you have to wake up really early on a Saturday to do any significant tailgating.

Oh well, will be fun regardless.

perspective on BYU's win over Boise. I heard BSU didn't do themselves any favors, and it was at LaVell Edwards stadium, but that made me nervous ... or is Boise just not as good as advertised this year?

Super. Same time as kids soccer which means texts will be blowing up all morning and i may as well not even watch the game. Look forward all year to UM football and 9am games simply ruin it.

I love the 9am starts out here. But I don't have kids yet so there is rarely anything happening on Saturday mornings that could interfere.

I either watch from the comfort of my house with a nice cup of coffee or I head to the Michigan bar for some breakfast and beers. Good times all around!

9am PST. I watch football at bars (the result of complicated domestic negotiations). Noon PST is managable, but it's a real bummer to schlep to a sports bar for breakfast. But I did enjoy noon games in AA. Have fun everyone!

The 20yo in me loves the early game, but the 45yo in me likes the later game.  20yo me is too impatient/excited to wait for the later game; 45yo me wants to get some stuff done before the game

YES! I normally like 330p kickoffs but im in a wedding that day that starts at 4p, so I am very very happy to hear this. I've only missed 2 games since 2004, and watched both later on dvr.

I don't know how much influence the AD has on setting game times but a friend in the department said Harbaugh was pushing hard for this to be at noon due to the time zone difference and wanted to take advantage of it if possible.
