Really hope I'm wrong, but 27-14 BYU. If the line can't get any push (and they didn't get nearly enough against 230 lb UNLV linemen yesterday) and Rudock continues to fire passes off the mark, our defense will be on the field for way too long. This might be a good week to temper expectations and trust in the Harbaugh process.

Michigan is too one dimensional with no receiving threat.    Don't blame Rudock.  Blame Hoke for recruiting a bunch of three-star receivers with no major offers.

StraightDave stop before this gets ugly on you.  The receivers have been just fine, but it's kind of hard for them to catch deep balls thrown as poorly as they have been.  If you want to blame Hoke, do so for lousy QB recruiting, not receivers.  Rudock's deep ball is about as bad as I've seen from a UM QB since RichRod year 1.  Hopefully Rudock gets his eyes checked or something and turns it around otherwise 7-5 is a possibility.

Oh, and I'm going with an absolute coin flip on this game.  If it were in Utah I'd paint it a loss but at the Big House I'll go with BYU 23-20

I think people are overreacting to the game against UNLV.  Once Michigan got up 14-0, it seemed like the coaches turned it into a glorified practice to get the team ready for tougher opponents coming up and not show too much of the playbook.  I think Rudock will look better next week, Smith goes back to starting RB and the offense finally completes a couple of passes downfield after working on it all week.  Should be a close game with Michigan winning after a failed hail mary but BYU.

UM 31-BYU 14.  BYU is an exhausted team by the time they get here.  They have played four road games in 4 different time zones.  Their offense is not so great -- look what Miami did to Nebraska.

Just posted the team's stats so far and they're... Not good. We rank very low in just about every meaningful measure and two of the teams we played were tomato cans. Unfortunately, I think BYU wins and it may get ugly. That's not to say the season will be a disaster. The B1G is horrid this year and the games over the past two weeks have shown that literally anything can happen - perhaps more so this year than in recent memory. I think we will probably have a 7-5 season although 8-4 is possible, as is 6-6.

This is going to be a close game.  Mangum and Rudock will both have two pics each, and whichever team gets pic 3 will win.

Two of Rosen's picks against BYU (1 and 3) were pure Devin Gardner underthrowing a receiver he is staring down in triple coverage.  I haven't seen Rudock do that this season.  However Rosen's second interception was very Rudock-like, staring down a receiver that is well-covered and throwing to the wrong-side.

BYU looks good but not great, not impressed with BYU defensively.  UCLA had three turn-overs (UCLA's only interception was at the absolute end of the game), next to nothing in the air and still won.

The secondary will have to win the game for us, and nothing fancy on offense, run the ball well, and quick short throws will do.

Plus BYU's punt team looked like Michigan last year, allowing good returns.

Tricky game, but all is not lost.

was bad. UNLV had 7 guys back in coverage when we ran a 2 receiver play action pass play with a RB safety valve that was covered. As a 5th year guy, you should know the play you called was to catch the opponent overplaying the run. When they guess the right defensive call and both your receivers are double covered, you need to just eat it and scramble for whatever you can get. He is not a great deep ball thrower. Not sure he will ever be. But he needs to be much, much smarter in his decision making. That's the "thing" about Rudock, that scares/ disappoints me the most.

Michigan wins 31-24; defense comes up with an interception which is returned for a TD for the winning margin. Ty Issac continues his best Biakabutuka impressions and crosses the goaline on another broken play and Ruddock finds his groove by connecting on 26 of 34 pass attempts and three TDs with no interceptions.

Anyone think BYU comes into this game still ranked given they lost by ONE on the road at UCLA late last night?

If so, this manageable schedule just got a bit more interesting with FIVE teams in the top 25 and a 6th (Minny) just outside the rankings...

I don't make predictions but we're going to have to attempt to do something different on offense in this game. These last two games have been about as conservative in the play calling department as a game can be. And we're probably going to have to throw if it's a 3rd & 1 or 4th & 1 since we have trouble picking those up on the ground.

We're at home, i expect we'll win a closer game than the last 2. I expect our offense to be much like the UNLV game. Mostly running, not much deep passing because BYUs pass defense is pretty good. They've got 7 picks so far, 3 each against some pretty pass happy offenses, though. That's mitigated by their qb. In his 2 starts he's 3/3 touchdowns vs ints. Against UCLA he did go 30/47 for 244 yards, but only 1 TD, with 1 int, and ran 8 times for -19 yards. BYUs fg kicker did most of the scoring in that game.

Michigan will be playing from behind for much of the game. Harbaugh's team will be resilient though. We claw our way back into this one with great defense. Michigan wins 21-17.

Heading into the season, I thought Michigan would go 3-1 in the non-conference with the loss coming to Utah. I thought BYU would be a challenging game but with three games to work out any kinks, I felt Michigan would ultimately prevail. Now I'm leaning toward a loss becuase it looks like Michigan is still a work in progress.

BYU probably shouldn't have beaten Boise State, but they probably should have beaten UCLA, which many people feel is a playoff contender. And despite winning on a hail mary against Nebraska, they played the 'Huskers evenly. In the end, they are a very good team, better than Utah in my opinion. I know Mangum is older than a typical true freshman, but the past two games he's improved. He threw the game ending interception against UCLA but overall he outplayed Josh Rosen.

20-10 Michigan. We score one on ST or DEF. I expect this to be a 7-3 game going into half time. I also expect us to have a 100 plus yard rusher. Rudock throws no picks and no sack. Best game from Rudock in Michigan's uniform.

I think our defense is at least as good, and probabaly better, than UCLA's (and definitely better than Nebraska's) so I don't think BYU will be able to score over 30 on us barring lots of Michigan turnovers/errors.

24-21 Michigan!
