Peppers at 10, which seems low.
+1 to you
I have some books I have been meaning to finish.
I miss the what are you reading, listening to and or watching threads.
Bye week and I'm on vacation starting monday...I can't wait.
I was never more excited in August for us to start playing.
And now I've never been more excited for us to stop playing.
SAVE US JAKE RYAN!!!
I think we could use it. Man these last 2 weeks have been scary.
What is going on with this team! This is RR all over again!
Well, no, lets not have that happen. Spend the bye week doing situps or working on your car, or maybe finishing that piece of furniture you have been thinking about. Or raking leaves. But we need the coach and the players, so they can improve together.
I'll take "Overreactive and Ridiculous Things" for $500, Alex
What is Outdated Jeopardy Joke, There's No Longer a $500 Clue?
We actually rallied back and won. Still scary, still undefeated though.
Notre dame got to a national title game in this fashion haha. Fuck. These games are no fun!
Got to the title game in games with opponents who might have had down years, but not historically bad decades. The last time we needed a bye week this badly was 2008. Our D is saving our ass. This feels like a 2-2 record and this isn't a good way to enter conference play.
Notre Dame needed OT to beat Purdue and should have lost to Pitt. Both bad teams and Notre Dame went to National Championship game (I think. Not real sure if they showed up.) So say we are a top 40 team? Close victories against bad teams. Same. I just hope we can improve (HOLD ONTO THE BALL), which is what nonconference schedule is for, right?
There have been many years where I have said "We are the best one loss team in the country.", or even some times "We are the best two loss team in the country."
This year I can safely say "We are the worst undefeated team in the country."
Can you be an undefeated team from a major conference in the beginning of October, and still be unranked? Cause that will be us.
Bad timing for a bye week. Gonna kill all our momentum from our last couple wins
And you sir and your heart enjoy your bye week.
had a wierd thing happen. Read your post and snorted a mouthful of Newcastle out my nose, the caught it in mid-air and snorted it back in.
Seriously thinking about taking this act on the road.
I'm shooting ducks in the UP next weekend. I need a week off this team.
It's a shame to waste beer, especially after a game like that, so I'm glad you got it back in there
If you get to drink the same beer twice?
Next week I will picture for one brief moment the O-Line doing stairs in the Stadium wearing pink skirts and then I will enjoy an autumn Saturday in Michigan thinking nary of nary doing nothing.
Maybe we can teach Devin gardener how to not fumble, our linemen how to drive block, and our D not to be so soft on every down.
Gives me a bigger appreciation for Denard. He would run it into the blender every play, get just EFFING DRILLED, then hop up smiling. Asking for more.
DG carries the ball one handed on his hip, fumbles every time he gets hit , and throws just as many int's.
bet Taylor Lewan is really glad he came back for this.
yes I said it. Other thn getting a win, this game was a complete tire fire. Michigan is going to get its ass kicked if it plays like that in the BIG.
Did you just copy and paste from the deleted "snowflakes"thread? I just saw that exact same comment.
Somebody tracked in the snow from outside.
but we settled down a bit in the 2nd half. If we'd stop turning the ball over so damn much, we'd be alright. That flippin fumble off of Da'Mario's ankle was a "of f*cking course that happens' moment. Defense was very solid
was soft up the middle. I'm actually okay with the guys on the outside, even with the occasional corner out route that was completed, or reviewed and actually dropped. But the 10-15 yd stuff across the middle should not be happening at this frequency.
Defense basically gave up 7. Not going to hold that 10 yard TD drive against them. More importantly the D line did show improvement, we got a sack with a 3 man rush. I think the D is good enough to win the Big 10 but the turnovers need to stop and the offense is really lost.
And the BIG sucks. OSU is maybe good, but they will get over-seeded in the bowl dance and they will be violated. I don't understand the universe anymore.
we can keep bye week turnovers under 4
when we only turn the ball over 3 times in a game.
At least we have a week where the team doesn't have to focus on the upcoming game. Hopefully they are able fix the mistakes we have been seeing the past two weeks.
They said they focused the last 2 weeks but I'm not sure how accurate that actually is.
what they have been focusing on....
I mistakenly let my wife know that there is no Michigan game next week, meaning that she will attempt to plan my weekend. I do have one thing I need to do, and that is trim back some of the faster growing shrubs, but I plan on having a cold so I can watch at least some football regardless (note: this strategy does not typically work until the afternoon games).
Have a hangover on Saturday. Stay on the couch Sunday just to make sure you are 100% for Monday.
Wife Day 2013. Survive and advance.
I expect and demand a post.
As a wife myself, it is intriguing to get a glimpse inside the minds of the husbands. What it also does is make me realize how lucky my husband is - I sit around and watch football all day on Saturday. Definitely negotiating material.
Do whatever she damn well tells you. You're welcome in advance.
...except this time. This bye week is going to feel very relaxing. Maybe I can grow back some of the hair I pulled out.
Vegas has us as a coin flip.
It wouldn't be Michigan football unless the other team inexplicably played out of their minds. 2 1/2 quarters of offensive incompetence is......troubling.
WEEEEEEEEEEEEE! this is probably the first time I've ever been excited for a bye week. Jeebus these last two weeks man...
oh god oh god fix everything in the bye week please so much blood coming out of my eyes right now
Just Win, Baby
I need this bye week more than Devin and the O-Line.
We can't almost lose to one of the worst teams in football for 3 weeks in a row!
I see what you did there...
Oh, I don't know. Have you seen the Bye Week's stats? They're basically all zeros. You could not suck more than that.
And yet, the Bye Week will play out of it's mind and we'll sleepwalk like there is not even a game scheduled.
I think it will come down to the last play again.
Minnesota is going to roll into town with bad QBs and a pro-style running attack. Should be just the tune up we need, we do not do well against these passing spreads.
However, "just the tune up we need" is also what I said before Akron and before UConn so what the hell do I know. PANIC
Just sayin... Although we're not sjsu either.
What is the over/under on the amount of turnovers we will have against Bye
I kid to avoid throwing things.
I'm sure there will be 4 or 5 turnovers in practice. It's good to be consistent right?
twice this year, so I'm going with an average of 2. I hear BYE is terrible. Worse than Akron.
I hope against Minnesota we play other running backs besides Fitz
Sweet Jesus...finally a weekend I can relax. If this team doesn't get it together soon I am going to be a basket case.
If it were possible to hug a bye week, I would.
Amongst the 1765 posts in the two game threads on the board there were:
- 192 uses of "fuck"
- 29 uses of "damn"
- 15 uses of "bitch"
I sure hope there was some sort of computer magical formula you used to figure that out!! Because if I had to total those up I would have to use an abacus and three days to figure that out.
Glad to see the lack of misogyny and no homophobic slurs.
We seem to lose a whole lot of the weeks before the bye. This was better. A little.
Wow, I never noticed that but you're right. Before tonight, the last time we won going into a bye week was 2005 against Northwestern.
2009: No bye week
2007: No bye week
2006: No bye week
Before we also lost in 1993, 1995, 1996, 1999, and 2001 (with no bye in 1997). They talk about being rusty after a bye week, but we're actually pretty good then. But before? Two weeks to stew my man.
This bye could not have come at a better time. Gardner needs a week to get himself refocused, as well as learning how to take care of the football. His turnover rate is almost hilariously bad at this point.
Would not be shocked to see Minnesota pegged as a slight favorite in two weeks.
A favorite? Wow. Overreact much? Minnesota is struggling this year, also and hasn't beaten us at home in a LONG time.
Hope it's not considered that long ago - I'm not that old yet! Am I?
but it wouldn't remotely surprise me if Berkley Edwards plays and runs for 200 yards. That's just how this season seems to be going—regardless of how crappy our opponent appears to be based on their record, they play out of their minds against us, and it doesn't appear as though there's much of a differential in physical talent between us and them.
If every opponent is playing out of their minds against us, maybe we're the ones out of our minds.
We used this excuse during the Rod era too. And isn't everyone playing their minds out against 'Bama, or Boise State even? It's not an excuse - good teams put bad teams away. We aren't doing that. As of right now, this team is not a good team. But they've shown promise so let's hope they mature fast.
1 - Wife Day 1 2013
2 - get Bryant some reps
3 - reinstate pos/negs
Will we be seeing jake in the next game? Or not til mid October?
This sucks. Waiting a whole week for the next Michigan game to erase the painful memories of the Akron turd-laying was brutal. Little did I know those memories would be supplanted by a total team meltdown against lowly UConn. I don't know how much alcohol it's gonna take for me to make it through two weeks of nightmare flashbacks of our team responding to that embarrassing performance at home by completely surrendering the point of attack on the road.
Defense was relatively good, offense was the side of the ball doing the melting down.
Think about UM playing like this through the big ten season and THEN remember how it feels to be undefeated....
We're supposed to get the moderation system back during the bye week...so there's that.
Not sure if it's shock or what, but I'm not even panicked... I'm actually surprised we've survived unscathed, and I do think there's actual talent on the offensive line that simply needs time to gel.
Derrick Green needs to get his ass in shape so we have another backfield option.
Also, it's really feeling more and more like Devin's just pressing. He's getting so impatient with the lack of success that it's just throwing the offense just enough off to make it feel like a collossal disaster.
I honestly think this is a situation where we're not as bad as we've played the last 2 weeks, and we're not as good as the team that steamrolled Central and knocked off ND.
Interview makes me more angry. I'm sick of him making excuses for the players
I'm sick of Hoke being so non-chalant about everything. This is a big deal. Gardner is playing worse than denard. The only thing we can do is run the qb option. Our O-line got pushed around it 3.5 quarters against Uconn and all game against Akron! What is happening? What happened to all those mean, physical O-linemen Hoke was recruiting?! Where's the physicality with our fronts?! I guess we all need to take a step back and analyze what's really going on. Perhaps we are just a 7 win team? Perhaps we will get crushed by MSU and OSU? Perhaps this is not reality and everything we saw is in the matrix? Who knows... I'm freaking out. That's all I know.
You hide it so well.
Every player needs to look in the mirror. Despite the miscues on O and special teams we're 4-0. We miss you Molk.
I blame Dave Brandon.
...we can't lose. Let's stay healthy and I'd look for changes. Hoke said the Bye Week is where you switch things up...well, it's here.
Get healthy! Stay healthy!
We need to shake up the interior. I say put Mag at RT Sho at LG and Bryant at Center and road grade some dudes. I get that a center needs to make the right calls, but if he's getting blown into the backfield or whiffing blocks all day he needs to sit. Glasgow doesn't seem to move anybody either. The middle of our OL is responsible for FOUR negative carries in the first half against a horrible team.
how we beat Notre Dame? They must be terrible. Also, I feel Central could have made a better showing against us.
I swear half of it is Notre Dame freaking out from previous losses and not realizing that they actually can beat us.
If ND was the 4th game on this year's schedule and not the 2nd, they'd have crushed us.
Just observing how to properly defend DG on the Waggle would have been worth 14 points for them alone.
We are 112th in TO margin and the offense has given up a TD in 3 straight games. Gardner still has not completed a game without an int. Hopefully that gets fixed.
