Bye Week OT: MgoHunters out there?

Submitted by Mich_Faithful on

With opening day coming monday, I'm sure all you other hunters out there are getting pretty excited for the season finally getting underway.  I plan on relaxing and getting ready for it this weekend with no Michigan game to watch this weekend.  Have spent a lot of time in the woods this offseason, hopefully it pays off for me since I have managed to at least get this guy on camera.

Hopefully I get a chance to stick him.  Anyone else get anything cool on camera or any other cool stories for upcoming season? New bow or gear? Tips? Share stories. I figured since it should be a slow weekend this could bring some entertainment to some MGoUsers.

Well I got a couple shooter bucks down here in Livingston Co on my grandpa's 140 acre farm. Been practicing QDM for about 5 years now and man it has paid off! On my last youth hunt last year, I harvested a beautiful 12 pt I had been watching for a couple years. I wouldn't have got him though if I hadn't passed up about 30 small bucks the previous years. This year I have a 130 class 9 pt. on the trail cam and will be ready come October 1st! Good luck to all this year!

with how many hunters we have here!

I live on 5 beautiful acres surrounded by almost 100 acres of Conservation land that i and one other person is allowed to hunt.  Not seeing as many deer this year but its partly because of all the corn still up.

I have been shooting since July and am ready for the opener.

(no more bow-hunting since i hurt my shoulder)

I hope all my fellow MGO hunters have a great and SAFE season!!

from a tree stand in Ohio myself, actually. Saw nothing this morning. Hoping for a good eater for the early season. Not anticipating good buck activity until after Halloween.

For what it's worth, I'm also a 120", 8 points or better kind of guy. Or I shoot does, which are quite tasty!

are in Grand Marais for Wifeday. Leaving from GR Friday afternoon we lost count of rigs loaded down with 4 wheelers, coolers, and treestands before we even passed Cedar Springs. Lucky bastards.

Not at all glad to see the weather report for GR this coming week is going to be high 70's. Dammit. I hate the first week or so when it's hot.

Went 35 miles off Jacksonville today and speared 5 Lion Fish around 110 ft. Saw some sharks, rays, dolphins, and also speared a grouper. Was a lot of fun, but there its nothing like deer hunting up north in Michigan. I love to deer hunt opening day in the snow with my rifle. Have fun bowhunting and be safe! P.S. a young doe is the best to eat.
