Butt-hurt open thread

Submitted by mGrowOld on

Seeing as though their are currently seven threads on the board devoted to expressing just how butt-hurt everyone is over the game on Saturday I thought it might be helpful to consolidate them all into one butt-hurt post.  Here is the place to express your every thought on:

1. The poor officiating

2. The injustice of scheduling the game in the first place

3. Bama cheating!

4. Bama not making players go to class

5. Mean old Sparty players saying mean things about us

6. The SEC and how they all cheat

7. Poor play calling

8. Lousy tackling & defensive schemes

9. Any other butt-hurt items not covered above

Lord knows we cant just suck it up and deal with the fact we just got curb-stomped by a team WAY better than us and move on to game #2 without letting the world know just how injured our feelings are about the game.

Edit: You can also use this thread to make up ridiculous positives that no one believes we can take out of the game in a silly attempt to try and block out the fact we got dominated in each and every phase of the game.

This isn't going to help Mgrowold. Every unique little snowflake of a butthurt poster will still want their own thread.

I originally was going to use the whole door, but that would've made a massive desk. Never realized the inside of a typical door is cardboard patterns separating the two small layers of wood. I'm also glad that wood trim comes in the exact width as the thickness of this door.

Most of the kudos goes to the wife, though, for the painting. I just sawed, hacked stuff off and put it all together, she made it look awesome.

wow I serioulsy was about to post the complete opposite thread so I'll just post it here instead of taking up board space.

Well this weekend there has been a lot of blame going around about why the Bama game was such a mess. It's been pretty bad and I understand we don't like the results, but at some point we really need to take a step back and realize there was a lot of good in this game to. Obviously not as much on  the field but it will help our players and coaches. Rarely do you get to see 50% of this years draft class on the other side of the ball. They were very good and sometimes you have to chalk it up to that.

From examining the board for the last 36 hours I have comprised 5 of the biggest issues that we bloggers have been having and I'm going to try to debunk/bring attention to them. So lets get it started at 5.

5) Sparty this and sparty that...

Well from a post a couple down from mine is a pretty good example. I understand many of you have to deal with the fan base on a daily basis but sometimes we really need to stop giving a crap about them. yes, they lost to Bama worse and yes they beat a ranked Boise team but we really don't need a whole section of the board that looks like RCMB. I would honestly prefer that all state stuff was combined into one week of hate and we could forget about them the other 51 weeks of the year (other then basketball of course)

4) "Refs were awful, no pentalty call on interception, CLIPSSS!!!!"

I think since saturday night we have had 3 board topics on the exact issue or atleast 3 different conversations in comments about it. I'll be honest that I thought the refs missed a lot but those things are apart of the game. In a national poll on espn a few months ago, fans voted that Michigan gets the most calls while playing at home. Not sure I totally agree with that but I guess we have the feeling that a lot of other teams have when they play us in A2. Oh well, the refs didn't cause turn overs, poor tackling, or were the reason Bama dominated in the trenches.

3) " Why you no run Denard!"

that topic was pretty crazy around these parts during the game and it seems like most of it has settled down. The biggest thing I took away from saturday is that Denard is never going to be Payton Manning.. I know shocker right?.. Borges knew what he was getting himself into. Bama was going to hit us square in the mouth and is going to be the best D we see all year. Injuries were happening all over the place and our offense is revolved around Denard still. If he would have got hurt badly then we would have been down to Bellomy and.. air. We didn't run the offense you will see when we get to B1G play. This year goal wasn't to beat Bama but to win the B1G and Denard running for 150 against Bama wouldn't have effected that at all. Now we just have to sit through a week of talk radio of Ohio and State fans saying "haha he sucks". Don't worry about it.. When he is actually fresh in the B1G this year, Michigan fans will be a lot happier.

2) Blake Countess.. Troy woolfolk.. STOP KILLING OUR DB'S BRADY!!

Well we all know the biggest hit out of the game happened 24 hours after it was actually done with blake being ruled out for the year. That has sparked the "we have so many other guys that don't mean as much as blake that can be a gunner" conversation. I'm frankly pretty sad for this injury but thats apart of the game. You have the same odds of being hurt as a gunner as you do a CB. 3-7 extra snaps normally won't change anything but now our top returning corner has been hurt 2 years in a row on ST. Beamer ball is predicated on having the best 11 players out there. We took a year off from bad injuries last year and we got reminded this year that they still happen. Brady will have someone out there by B1G season who will be able handle themselves. CHILL.

This my favorite:

1) It's all Dave Brandons fault!

This is where I just say SHUT UP! Back in 2010, We had really high hopes for 2012 and that was when RR guys were going to be "flying high". Dave Brandon (yes it was Dave not Bill) wanted to get the national exposure that the team and fan base wanted. We all know what happen in 2010. Then Hoke came in and won 11 games with smoke and mirrors. (trust me we beat teams that we really weren't better then last year) OK smoke and mirrors is a little harsh.. Better coaching and some good bounces. The whole summer everyone was so hyped for this game. I could link you to the 5000 posts about it but honestly this post is to long to begin with. Earlier this week, Brandon makes a statement about wanting more high profile games and everyone was like... yay!! these are awesome! Then Saturday happened. Now the blame game is on Dave Brandon. He took a chance and I fully respect that. I know this blog is sponsered by "get off my lawn" inc. and everyone hates new non-traditional things but the whole athletic department is moving in the right direction. I get everyone around here hates the jerseys lately but for some reason the 16-18 year old kids love them (I have no clue why) and it helps recruiting these kids. This game was not Brandons fault. As an AD he did his job but we just didn't have the horses to run with Bama.

I know this was kind of a long rant but as a fan base we need to chill. We still have a good team and there is a long season ahead. Lets look forward to Air Force and hope that there is marked improvements in all areas. It was the first game and mistakes happen. Usually they happen against Western and you wouldn't notice. Everything will be ok and I still have really high hopes for this team. Go blue!

a Michigan board and we are all men and real men just suck it up and don't ever talk about anything (yawn, etcetera). Your average ca 1954 John Wayne horsepucky post, the typical one that leaves you scratching your head as to why someone who doesn't want people to talk bothers to post in the first place, let alone start their own thread.

I'm feeling like I've started this, with my link to the Twitter article, in the post below. Let me be clear: I am not butt hurt. I think the Twitter thing is an extension of what we saw last year on the field, which is a bunch of borderline personality guys who go beyond the game of football into a WWF realm, but real.

You want to know the extent of my feelings? I want to crush their skulls. I want to embarrass and humiliate them. I would like to see at least one of them cry. I want them to wake up in the middle of the night after the game, amid ice packs, hoping it was all a dream, and when they realize it wasn't, fall into a large, uncompromising pit of despair. I want Dantonio to suffer because I'm starting to hate him more than anybody, even more than Justin Boren.

And really, I have no place to put those feelings, not only on a day like today, but on any day. I'm a mom, for god's sakes. So I put them here, on MGoBlog.

At first, I would have agreed with you.  Saturday night felt like Michigan was the curb-stomping victim in American History X.  Now, though, I think Michigan was more like Ed Norton as the victim in the showers in American History X.  I guess that analogy fits with this whole butt-hurt thread.

types who come on to tell us to suck it up on occasions like this--that's the normative nature of a certain kind of personality, even if Michigan does stand for something more thoughtful.

There will always be people who--not even sure what they are really saying--think telling people to shut up--is somehow the right male thing to do, as if boards like this aren't for CONVERSATION. And a certain type of person will say hur-hur and jump in line.

Glad the guy who founded the site doesn't play that way. It's tired.

Incredibly depressing positives:

Denard didn't get hurt (that badly).

We didn't get shut out.

In spite of Blake Countess, we still have depth at corner.

Borges called some bubble screens.

Devin will be a player.

Special teams played well.

Negatives:

Denard still doesn't make good decisions with the football. He didn't really look any better out there than he did in the Sugar Bowl.

Our linebackers looked like they sucked.

Our offensive line couldn't get any push against Bama's defensive line

Countess :( :( :( :(

Lewan (?!?!?!?!?!?)

It was Alabama man. The defending national champs. Who knows, maybe even repeat national champs. Going against a much undersized Michigan squad that's only a year removed from its worst defense in school history.

Everyone get over it. There's an entire season left to play.

I agree. This fan base needs to man the fuck up, have a group hug, and move on. This was one game against a superior opponent that got away. Eleven more regular season wins are out there to be had.

I wonder what are the positives we can take from Saturdays game. Better yet, it would be interesting to know what's everyone's opinion on the PSU scandal. Sigh. I guess we'll just never know.

I didn't expect a win, but I didn't expect a thrasing, either.  At least Lewan is ok.  Countess, well, we shall see if he ever returns to 100% and continues on his path to stardom.

  • Blake Countess should never ever play. Otherwise he may be injured. Not sure what Hoke was thinking there
  • Officials. More like Off$$ici$al$ amirite
  • Why did Dave Brandon schedule this game? Also, why did he hire Richrod and why didn't he make sure those MIchigan teams of the 50's and 60's performed better? I'd expect more from the AD
  • Dave Brandon, Money, etc

You can be sarcastic about Countess all you want, but you never play your star CB on special teams when you're already paper thin at that position. Trot another guy from the reserves out there before anyone on this year's secondary.

I wore my Michigan gear on Sunday shopping with the wife.  It was an odd experience to say the least.  Sympathy was on most people's faces.  Some looked at me in confusion as to why I would be wearing Michigan attire after that awful game.  It was an easy choice for me.  I wore it because deep down inside I know that our kids tried.

Trial by fire was what happened Saturday night.  The hope that I have is that it will temper these young men for the rest of the year.

but what do we not have to look forward to this season? Can anyone name one team on the schedule that would have done better? State might have held them under 41, but does anyone think they could score two touchdowns?

Every fucking game left on this schedule is winnable, and the Big Ten is ours to lose, IMO. We're going to destroy Air Force and UMass in the next two weeks, we'll win again against Notre Dame, and then we're into Purdue and Illinois before we see another challenge. How butthurt will this place be at 5-1? How about 6-1 with an ugly ass trophy? 7-1 after Denard and Fitz run roughshod over a shitty Nebraska defense? 10-1 after keeping the Jug and beating up shitty Iowa and Northwestern teams? How butthurt will everyone be when we march into Columbus as heavy favorites and get Meyer to seriously consider retiring a second time after his team gets beat up again?

Everyone keep in mind, we still have a chance for the best season since 1997. Let's look forward and not worry about Saban or Alabama. Fuck them. Let's get excited about us.

All these assholes who think we were going to beat them or are butthurt because we scored more on them than just about anyone in the country the last two years, or because we knew our defense was paper thin and probably no where near as good as last year's...

It was one game against possibly the best team in the country. 3 projected first round picks on the offensive line? Maybe a few more on the rest of the team? And we can't let go the fact we got curb stomped? Not even as badly as the bowl game 2 years ago against a mediocre team? WTF?
