Butler Stuns IU...Jinx Averted

Submitted by coldnjl on

With 1:46 left in the game, Butler is up 71 to 68 on IU. Butler has played unbelieveable in the second half, but Andrew Smith just fouled out after abusing Zeller all game.

EDIT#1. Game on CBS. IU down 2 with 1:14 left

EDIT#2. OT...

Butler wins 88 to 86 in OT

Brad Stevens is a hell of a coach!

Damn this IU-Butler finish is coinciding with a hell of a Arizona-Nevada bowl finish.

I'm hoping Butler wins just so the "JINX!" goons get reminded that superstition is dumb.

Wow. That was an amazing game. How can any neutral observer not like Butler and Coach Stevens at this point? That was just an amazing performance. You know what, scratch that. That was a tremendous performance.

Barring any letdowns by our guys, we could grab the No. 1 spot with a win in Columbus in January. Both Duke and us play nobody until the 12th/13th weekend, when they go into NC State, and we go into C-Bus

Kept waiting for Butler to crack especially after the foul trouble and comebacks Indiana had.  Great game to watch. It amazes me what Brad Stevens is able to get out of his players.  Keep wondering how long he'll stick around there before heading to a bigger job.  He's definitely been targetted quite a few times over the last couple years.

Good for Butler. I don't think Indiana should have been number 1 anyway. As long as we take care of business tonight, we'll probably be 2nd in the rankings, which is still insanely high for such a young team. But I'm not going to complain about it.

I think brad Stevens does a great job identifying and developing talent. However, I think his in game coaching is truly elite and it showed today in multiple points. I wonder if he keeps this up for few more years if he will be in contention for the duke job after coach k retires or maybe uconn if they don't retain their interim coach.

I have 3 monitors mounted on the TV Wall, the biggest one in the middle with the smaller 2 flanking it.

The reason I bring this up is cause I have the football games on the smaller sets and one has a blue field while the other has a red field, in a word......STUPID, I mean come on, it hurts the eyes and I think maybe on the verge of giving me a headache.

Does anyone else agree with me that the NCAA should make a rule that all fields should be green, you know, like grass is supposed to look? I know that it's the fake stuff but still, it's just bad TV and gimmicky, if you want to be taken seriously as a program, make your field green IMHO.

IU (at home) beats #1 Kentucky and its the biggest win of all-time basically, and Watford gets an ESPY. Unranked Butler beats #1 IU at a neutral location and its barely getting any hype. I can't tell which team gets over-hyped more, ND Football or IU Basketball.

I actually live in Indiana as well, although I'm from Michigan. You are correct. Indiana/ND fans overhype everything, and they are always holding on to these mythical years of dominance that they can never seem to "return" to. A lot of my IU friends really thought this IU team had a chance to run the table. I'm as big of a Michigan fan as there is, but I still see us losing about 4-6 games this year. And I have no problem saying that Duke should be ranked ahead of us ... as well as a few other teams possibly.

When IU went up 4 in OT, I thought for sure that Butler was done.I love watching that team play because they never quit and never back down. Brad Stevens is amazing. Go Blue!

Michigan has a reasonable shot at going into it's game vs. Ohio on my birthday as the #1 team in the country if NC St. can knock off Duke (in Raleigh) on the 12th.
