All the Braylon TDs
EDIT: Not sure why I can get the link to liven up. . .
I want you to have more than 5 points for that comment.
on continuous snap feed. I was at the other end but the 200mm lens got some nice snaps. I saw it through the view finder.
In section 235?
I was texting my girlfriend the updates and had my head down and just remember the announcing yelling and crowd cheering and seeing Trey soaring in the air. What a play by the best player in the country.
Wait, you weren't watching the final seconds of the game so you could text your girlfriend? I know people are addicted to their phones, but holy shit, it could wait for 20 seconds. It's not like she'd know the difference.
Arghh, I had said out loud "I can't watch this" right before this play... And I didn't :(
the mike hart interview
and missed it, too
then i had to flip back with the dvr
Everyone missed it. It occurred (barely) off screen. CBS blew the camera work.
Not those of us in Crisler! We had a great view.
For some reason this sticks out to me, but Michigan is up 5 with like :15 to go on MSU, who just drilled a 3. Morris gets the inbounds pass under the MSU basket, splits a double team, he goes behind the back around a MSU player, and then in the same motion, around the back AGAIN, head fakes one player, splits another double team in the paint, and finger rolls the layup in. Smooth as silk. Game. Over.
It's at 3:00 in this video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlHV9WS7PV0
I would embed, but I don't know how
Morris beasting at 3:00
Watching Hardaway in that video reminds me a lot of LeVert this year: has a nice stroke when we gets going, has some quickness on the dribble, and skinny as a rail. I'm really hoping LeVert develops into a more consistent weapon. He made a great argument for himself last night picking up Stauskas' extra minutes.
He turned to Lucas and said,
"Get the f--- off my court."
With both teams being good over the past 15 years...there has to be something of note.
I'd love it if someone just made a compilation video of all of those things...repeating over and over for 10-20 minutes, maybe with some interludes of Brian's Brady Hoke chinese intrsument video
It was amazing. I was lucky enough to be right behind the Michigan bench, and I swear there was a second of disbelief from the crowd, a collective gasp if you will, until Trey started dribbling the other way...and then it just went nuts when he slammed it homed.
I don't know where it ranks, but man was it a great play, and might have saved our season.
Where's Thorin with his video??!!
Same with me. I was texting my sister, who'd been groaning about the officiating all night, after the McGary TO. Then I looked up: glory.
Also Zack Novak going OFF against MSU on the road in 2011. Michigan down 6-0, Novak 3, and the foul. made the FT. Michigan down 16-11, Novak 3. Next possesstion for Michigan, down 16-14, Novak 3. Next Michigan possession, up 17-16, Novak 3. Finished with 19 points and 6 rebounds, and went 6 OF 8 FROM THREE!!!
I don't know about all those times but I rather enjoyed watching Lloyd run up the score against Bobby after the Spartan Bob incident.
I work in Lansing an am one of about 5 Michigan fans surrounded by about 65 Spartys. I bet one guy on that football game an he told me he wanted 42 points. I agreed. MSU took the opening kickoff down the field and kicked a field goal. Michigan scored 48 unanswered points and I took his $20! Miss those days!
Perfect play to come back from that previous possession and just a great way to get everyone back into the game and just epitomized our rise from being the second teir basketball team in the state to finally asserting ourself as an elite force in the Big Ten.
That was a great swing of emotion from being extremely disappointed (about giving up a big lead at the end of regulation and the best case scenario being OT) to going wild with ecstasy.
I thought to myself, "There's no way they win here unless Trey steals the ball." Then he stole the effing ball.
To be at least somewhat fair, Trey Burke did give the Spartans something in return - their third straight loss.
Here they are again:
cracking up watching #25 just standing there as Trey steals it and the game ends. He has no clue what is going on......
Watched the game in Florida, when the steal happened I ran up to the State fans in the bar and yelled quite loudly "Suck on that!"
Overreaction? I don't think so
I think so.
Later this year, when posbangs come back, we have to remember to come back to this thread and +1 this comment into the stratosphere.
Oh so you're that Michigan fan that I hate.
Go home, you are drunk.
For you, brah.
I don't like sports assholes, whether they root for Ohio, MSU, ND, Alabama . . . or Michigan. Have some class and don't be an ass.
Protip: to be a polite, happy, and condescending Michigan fan will always grind their gears more than what you did.
You didn't mention Braylonfest? That is my number one for sure
Good point. Braylonfest was unbelievable. I remember the people I was with wanted to leave when state went up 17. They still thank me today for making them stay (it was before I could drive myself to the games)
Today's steal(s) were absolutely unbelievable. By far my favorite plays of this basketball season. The alley oop then slapping the floor/firing up the crowd was pretty great as well.
I felt like we were almost mocking state. They slap the floor a lot, and did it a couple of times already in this game. It felt like we were turning the game and that was our way of saying "get the fuck off our court" 2013 version. I personally hate the floor slapping as a routine though.
We were definitely mocking them. They did it two possesions before that. Burke also slapped the floor twice, one of them being right in front of Appling and the MSU bench after the timeout was called.
Enjoy the ride. He's a stud. Go blue.
Basketball wins are great... but there is only one football showdown each year and that comeback was one for the ages. Let's not forget that we got an onside kick, etc. It was quite a feat to see... I was there in person and it was unreal.
Braylon fest live was incredible. That game and UTL are 1 and 1a all time for me. The best part is that I took my little brother to the game. Yes, you guessed it. He went to State. When we got the on-sides kick he said "oh no" over and over. He knew what was going to happen
Two years ago MSU at Michigan in basketball and Darius' "get the fuck off my court."
It's not really a play per se, but when Darius Morris told Kalin Lucas to get the fuck off his court, that feels like the point in time when the rivalry went from being obviously one-sided to even or even skewed to advantage Michigan. Before that we almost seemed scared of them, after it not so much.
-Woodson's interception in 1997? Didn't need it to win the game but a kickass play.
-Garrett Rivas' field goal in overtime to win in East Lansing in 2005...
I think it's safe to say that Trey made up for the six turnovers against Penn State. Made up for it and entered Michigan lore.
This will never get old.
That's beautiful. I could watch that over and over.
Wanted to see how long I could watch that and still feel joy each time. Turns out the answer is a very long time. ...and counting.
Those all Maize jerseys look better after and Ohio and State win with them.
I agree and have redacted all criticisms of the all maize jerseys. I say we wear them into April.
If our other choices are sleeves. Between all maize jerseys and sleeves....all maize, no doubt.
Can we get a "Sparty NO!" attached to this somehow? Make it happen.
Those are my cookies!
It's kind of forgotten now, but Daniel Horton made a huge 3 to all but clinch the game against MSU at Crisler in 2003. That was the first time we beat Izzo after he'd built up his program.
Wasn't that the 70-68 game? That was during a 4 year stretch where we only played MSU once during the regular season.
60-58 IIRC. Horton's shot put us up by four with around 30 seconds left.
with a 30 footer at the buzzer for a 65-63 win @ Jennison in the 1977-78 season
Keith Smith sinks a free throw w/ no time remaining to win 49-48 @ Crisler in the 1978-79 season.
In like 07. Most dominating performance I've seen
I was thinking it was '03 or '04? Wasn't it during Henne's freshman year?
It was 04 my sophomore year, Halloween weekend
It was 2004. We also had a comeback win in '07 though (coming back from 24-14 down to win 28-24).
Although we wound up not winning the game, Brandon Graham's annihilating goal line hit in the 2009 game was an unforgettable play.
Our final drive in regulation in that game (when we went almost the entire length of the field in a couple minutes) was epic. That was perhaps Tate Forcier's finest moment (only to be followed by his disastrous OT).
the Manningham TD? I cannot get the TD against Penn St out of my head. I think it may be blocking out any memory of what Manningham did against Sparty that was so epic. But I cannot remember. Anyone know what the OP is talking about?
With 7 minutes left. Chad Henne finds Greg Mathews in the back of the end zone to make it 24-21. Defense forces a 3 and out as they stuff Culcrick (or whoever that fat running back was) and get the ball back. 3rd and 12 Henne finds Manningham deep and makes a jumping/falling backwards catch to win. That press conference is where the Little Brother nickname originated thanks to Mike Hart.
I legitimately thought we were about to have our hearts ripped out from us again.
Trey Burke had a different idea.
Anyone have a camera on Izzo's face during the steals?
