This whole season will go by and the pro-KCP crowd will still be crowing about how he's an elite defender and Joe made the right choice. People will point to the fact that he does nothing in the box score and they'll say "he's the fifth scoring option! We don't need him to to score, rebound or get assists!". They'll point at Trey's impressive stats and say "but what about that one game back in December when he played poorly! Adjusted metrics show that KCP is FAR superior to Burke!"

"He's been nervous all day"

"He's dominating the game now"

I'm glad that his nerves didn't get the best of him; I thought they might.  Thanks for posting this!  Enjoying my Sunday coffee even more while watching.

Even as a lifelong Pistons fan, I will say that it was great to see Trey continue to do Trey things just as he did when he was in Ann Arbor. It was also nice to see Kentavious Caldwell-Pope do....do five points worth of something....here was out there, right? Thanks to Burke, the Jazz out-assisted, if you will, the Pistons by nearly a 2:1 margin. Team A/T ratios were 1.50 for the Jazz and 1.00 for the Pistons.

Burke's passing is off the charts good. When I watched him in the summer league I wasn't sure if his game would translate, because of the greater length and athleticism, but has he ever adapted. I'm amazed that he not only finds the windows for these passes, but also puts them exactly where they need to be.  His bigs can go up immediately and the jump shooters can take their shots in rhythm.

Feel the need to rag on KCP, like he a scrub or something? I like trey but seriously you dogging this kid for no reason. That man did nothing to you or yours, so leave him alone. No reason for you to compare the two . It's funny I always read some garbage about screw joe d why? Honestly how many championships the pistons was really gonna win during lebrons prime without having a legit chance at obtaining elite talent in the league ? But joe d stupid in most of you guys eyes cause he has taken to playoffs and just loose like the tigers get you all excited for no reason. Joe d knew we weren't gonna win during the leagues best players prime. How many championships were won by different teams when mike magic and bird was running the league? C'mon the pistons run was done when lebron beat us in the playoffs by himself. Sometimes you gotta step back to step up. I believe in joe cause he did take us to the promise land so why so much hate? The logic behind hating KCP is silly he didn't draft himself.

(Players and coaches) have been Millen-esque) since 2005. A GM with a championship and 6 really good seasons doesn't deserve a 10 year rebuild that still isn't close to being rebuilt. His time here should be over. The new owner is clueless though so letting Joe go may not make the franchise any better.

Pistons have been stepping back for 10 years now. They aren't stepping up with Joe D's crazy personnel moves.

And KCP is compared to Burke because the Pistons could've had Burke and took KCP instead. First of all, the move looks bad and second, we would enjoy rooting for the Wolverine on the local team. Not hard to understand why.

Also, Pistons could've had Melo for a while but Joe D passed on him too. Quit making excuses for a guy that has been a terrible executive for going on a decade.

Joe D built a champsionship team and a perennial conference finals participant from (largely) a group of cast-offs and unwanteds.

Perhaps he looked at Trey and didn't see a cast off.

Joe has been blind since lusting after Darko in 2003.

Meanwhile, kcp put up 5 points. Burke running an offense and appears to be the leader of the team and Detroit is still looking for that guy.

This miss will be worst than the Darko pick.

It is so much fun to listen to these Sparty slappies who dominate the sport radio in this town say things like. What do you think the point total over and under should be for Trey Burke tonight, how about 15? Sparty # one "well I think he is gonna wanna show Joe D. up so bad that he will not get the 15". Same across the board for other commentaters. They forgot that this kid has ice in his veins, showing them up in East Lansing and in Ann Arbor when he was here. Not only did he score 20 but he had 12 assists maybe the over and under should have been assists with a # as low as 15. Nice move Joe D. you remind me of the Lions with passing on UM picks like this. EDIT one other thing not one of these guys picked UM to win at Wisky either

Dude, learn some grammar please, not only was that an awful post to read but your take was not only stupid, it's just plain wrong.

Joe D. probably still has an ax to grind against U-M because his pedestrian player of a son Jordan never really had any playing time when he was in AA, just speculation on my part.

But make no mistake about it, passing on Burke will come back to haunt the Pistons for a long time, I really feel like he will be a similar player to Chris Paul, I said this during his freshman year. Jennings at  PG  for the Pistons is meh, he has nights where he does pretty good, but he is so damn inconsistent, whereas Burke looks like he's gonna be a stud.

Thanks Joe D., for continuing to be an awful GM for going on almost a decade now.
