To this comment, I have to give a "pretty much this" because it is things like this that help Michigan down the road, if recruits can see what sort of nearly immediate dividends they can get by coming to Michigan for development before making a jump to the NBA. I know we wanted these guys to stay for our own selfish purposes as fans of the program, but this is evidence that they made the right call in my mind as well.

Tim Hardaway Jr. was a pleasant surprise for me in his rookie year.  I really doubted the wisdom of his decision to go pro, but it has panned out well for him.

Great to see them both do so well.

Pretty much a given considering how poor this year's rookie class was. But they both showed enough positive signs to make me optimistic about their long term future in the league.

Yeah, Timmy should definitely send JR Smith a gift basket, take him out to dinner, something. There is no way he should have gotten that much playing time. Kudos to him for making the most of it, but yeah, he shouldn't have played as much as he did with Both JR and Iman Schumpert on that Knicks squad. Also, 10.2 points, 1.5 rebounds, .8 assists, with splits of 42.8%-36.3%-82.8% means he's still got a lot of work to do.

I hope both of them continue to flourish at the next level. This should also have some kind of positive effect on our future recruiting classes, it really shows that our program can make you shine on even the highest level.

"They both made the right decision." My heart says otherwise. On a serious note, great for them. I hope this is just the start of terrific careers for them both.

I just saw Caris is getting a lot of hype as being a top 20 pick next year. That's amazing considering where he was when Michigan offered him. Who'd have thought he could possibly play himself into being a lottery pick in the draft considering "no one wanted him?"

Wish I could dig up all the people hating on Hardaway Jr's decision to turn pro. He's a stud so far in the league.

Oh, this is a "really?!?!" decision, for sure I mean, come on. You're talking about a kid leaving early to be what.. a mid-to-late second round pick? To go play in Europe? Since when is this an understandable move? I'll say it -- it's foolish. Twenty years ago everybody would have said the same. I don't understand why people continue to say he couldn't have gone higher next year. The kid is 21 years old and supposedly has a great work ethic. I just don't understand this move at all, unless he is just desperate to make some amount of money, somewhere, now.
And doesn't care if that somewhere turns out to be across one ocean or another. If you're 21, and you're going to be (perhaps lucky) to be a second round pick, leaving school early for the NBA is a terrible idea. I don't see how it can be viewed any other way. Personally, I don't think Hardaway is an NBA player at all, but he definitely had a better chance to be one after another year at U-M. If you think leaving school early to go play in Europe is a good idea, then well, good on you. But I can't say I've ever heard that opinion before.
