Would love to hear this today:

"I don't know where all you media types get your information, but I'm not going anywhere. You all got treated yesterday."

With that said, best of luck in the NBA, Trey. A girl can dream, can't she?

Michigan would have no excuse not to win the national title next year if he comes back. I'd have to believe if Burke stays, everyone would come back for the common goal.

This team that went to the Finals + a junior Burke, senior THJ + Irvin, Walton and Donnal.

My God. If that happens, Michigan would not no doubt set records.

Sure, the goal would be the title game but the best two teams rarely make it there.

See: Us beating Kansas in OT or us beating North Dakota in the frozen four semis 2 years ago. We've knocked off teams who 'should' have made the finals

Part of what should make his decision easier is knowing that the program is in good hands and will continue to compete on a high level. He'll be missed, but for the returning and incoming players, its their time to shine and they're well positioned to do so.

Good luck in whatever you decide to do. I'm still holding out hope that he could return, although I support him 100% either way. I am not putting any faith in these "reports" that he is gone if for no other reason then that Trey deserves the opportunity to have his moment announcing his decision. I have no respect for these media types that feel the need to report the biggest decision of a young man's life one day before he does so himself. Yes I get it, he is all but certainly gone, but what difference does one day make to some media low-life compared to being able to announce your PESONAL decision to the world on your own terms.

when a player leaves for the NBA, sometimes he leaves the program, the team, and the fanbase in a bad situation and mad at him.  I hope there is none of that, because Trey Burke did more for this program than any one single player has done in my entire lifetime.  He's one of those players that's just a "good guy" and I legitimatly hope he has an extremely successful career in the NBA, and continues to prove people wrong.  I only hope that Trey continues to love Michigan, and be the type player that comes back for games, and is always a presence around the University.  I would love to see the number 3 hanging from the rafters one day.  Stay strong Trey, and Go Blue!

Would be like a 4.0 engineering student deciding to take a victory lap year. Yes Burke won't have a degree, and yes college is great, but given the nature of his profession, he's done everything he can to prepare and done it flawlessly. I'm glad Michigan was able to prepare him so well for the NBA, and I hope he dominates.

am I the only one who doesn't want him to come back?

my rationale is that I want our program to be seen as one that does right by its players and gets them into the NBA.  Trey is ready for the NBA and he should be out.  I like how him and Belien have been tightlipped but if Belien is telling Trey anything other than good bye, good luck, and God bless I would be worried about our team...

idk.  maybe its just me...

What best for the program is trey to do what he wants. Previous players have left because there were issues with the coach, not good for the program. People staying because they're not nba ready secondary to lack of development is bad for the program. Having a player developed to a top 10 pick and choosing to stay doesn't hurt the program. That's like saying lewan staying is bad for football... The fact that the choice is there to be made free of any distraction other than the players wishes is as good as it gets

I really doubt it would matter, unless it turned out that Beilein had a specific policy forcing guys to stay in school (which he obviously doesn't).  Any player is free to make his own decision.

In any event, there really aren't that many guys whose stock dramatically drops when they stay.  People have brought up Cody Zeller this year, but last I checked he was still projected to go in the lottery.  This is something that's impossible to prove anyway - a player is only drafted once, and it's conjecture where he would have gone in any other year.

It's Trey's decision.  Beilein can't make him stay.   If Trey were to shock everyone and stay, I think that'd send a powerful message about how cool it is to be a Michigan basketball player for JB.  If he goes, it shows that we can develop top-notch talent.  I see absolutely no downside for the program either way.

I don't believe you.  You're telling me that if the National Player of the Year said "You know what, I'd rather be at Michigan than play in the NBA," you'd be upset?

I do not begrudge him one iota if he leaves - he gave us two fantastic seasons  - but of course I'd be thrilled if he stayed.  I don't think any Michigan fan can honestly argue otherwise.

For those of you who said 'Carlton may be the better player, but Burke it the more important recruit in this class', You were half more right and half more wrong than you could ever have guessed!

I'm pretty sure Brundidge was the higher ranked recruit by (high 3* vs middle 4*) by all sites and he was in the class earlier than Burke. I believe we only went after Burke once Darius Morris went pro, which is why people thought Burke would be more important, a true PG vs a PG/SG tweener on a team with no point guards.

No, Burke signed in the fall.  In fact, when he signed (November 2010) no one had any idea it would be Morris's last season.  The assumption was that we'd have both guys in 2011-12, which is pretty wild to think about.

Brundidge was originally higher-ranked than Burke, but he did not have a great senior season, while Burke was Mr. Basketball in Ohio.  By the time both arrived on campus, there was definitely a sense that Burke had been underrated and that Brundidge might not be a great fit.

"Trey's desire to be the best at everything he does has helped Michigan basketball achieve things it hadn't done in 20 years," - Beilein, on Trey's decision

One of the lasting legacies of Trey's time in Ann Arbor is exactly this. Trey Burke has been key to this program's accelerated transformation in the last couple seasons and he is leaving it in a very good place and with a very bright future, something it hasn't seen in quite some time. I believe that's exactly what you want as a program because that sort of success will breed further successes in developing players and sending them highly-touted and award-winning to the NBA - that only helps Michigan. I will always smile thinking about the incredibly long highlight reel of memories he has given us.

Best of luck, Trey Burke!

Who would have believed that two years ago as we bemoaned losing Darius Morris to the NBA that a young man from the belly of the beast would come and in two short years help us win our first B10 title since 1986, guide us to a #1 regular season ranking, win every player of the year award that matters, return us to our first NCAA title game since 1993, and then leave as a certain NBA lottery pick.

Trey Burke, one for the ages. Best of luck. You done good kid.
