Burke and THJ part of ESPN's Perfect Player

Thought this would lighten the mood a little bit on the board after last night.

Espn posted a perfect player starting line-up where you can pick different attributes from 6 different players at their position to make the perfect player.

Our very own Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway Jr. both contributed to their respective positions.

Trey Burke's poise: The Michigan sophomore averages 18.2 points, 7.0 assists and only 1.9 turnovers -- phenomenal numbers considering he plays in one of the most competitive conferences in recent memory. Burke never seems to lose his cool, never tries to do too much, and never gets too high or too low. His on-court temperament has been infectious to a Wolverines squad that was ranked No. 1 earlier this season.

Tim Hardaway Jr.'s fearlessness: Taking the big shot in a close game is one thing. Wanting to take the big shot is something different, and make no mistake, Hardaway wants the ball in his hands with everything on the line. He went 10-of-17 from 3-point range against Indiana, Ohio State and Wisconsin. Nine of those 3s came in the second half or overtime.

I thought this was pretty cool that two of our starters have an attribute that Jason King feels would contribute to the perfect player at that position.

Mitch McGary also got a shoutout at the top freshmen on the rise.

I thougth this would get some positive thoughts in peoples head towards our team after the meltdown last night. We should fee lucky to have these guys are our team, and get to watch them all season.

I'm with you, MGomaha, and I don't even feel you need to excuse yourself for your language.  I like the trolling post, though, because it is going to make March 2 even sweeter.

If Michigan's loss to Sparty had been another close one, as the Wiscy game was, it wouldn't have had nearly the impact that it will on either team.  Now, Sparty is overconfident, and Michigan is pissed off.  And, of course, Sparty's fanbase is acting like they won the NCAA Tournament.

There's a lot of season left to go, and it is going to get better from here.

True, I was really dissapointed with his game last night, but it was one bad game. He almost single handedly kept us from getting swept by OSU by hitting all the second half 3's and then blocking Craft's tying shot in overtime.

Burke speaks for himself and THJ is great. THJ had one bad night last night (and frankly, if you're going to have a bad night, I'd rather it was during a 30 point loss than a 4-8 point loss. Even if Timmy was on last night and dropped in 15 we still get blown out).

My concern with this team is primarily GR3's complete disappearance (with Staukas's 3 point shooting recently a distant second). One minute he is 360 dunking on people and then he disappears during a critical 4 game stretch. Hope he gets his act together by March.

My issue with Stauskus is that his 3 point shooting disappears in big games.  I'd understand if it was a bit of streakiness but it isn't.  We need him most of all against the great teams.  Who cares if he shoots 4/5 from 3 against NW.  We need that against MSU.

"The Michigan sophomore averages 18.2 points, 7.0 assists and only 1.9 turnovers -- phenomenal numbers considering he plays in one of the most competitive conferences in recent memory." - from the article, regarding Burke

To add to that a little bit, what was said in the article does bear itself out in Burke's stats actually, or at least I think so. His contributions are fairly steady, even with the meat grinder of the Big Ten - he's ranged between 15 and 25 points, but a majority of games see him at 18 or 19 regardless of venue. His average PPG has remained pretty stable and his average assists and rebounds have actually improved as the season has marched on. His FG% varies between home and away, but he does find ways to step up in other areas. He definitely maintains a balance in his game.
