IU bball fan here, IMO Burke has been the best player in the conference thus far. When Zeller is on he's tremendous, however his inconsistency within games has been a point of concern. Conversely Burke is an absolute rock. If the season ends tonight he begrudgingly gets my B1G and national POY votes.

Not that it really matters to me, but I wonder if recruiting services will start to give our recruits the Belein bump because he has consisently shown that freshman can thrive in his system and in most cases out-perform their recrutiing expectations. I don't know if it is his talent identification or the offensive system that he employs, or if it is some synergistic combination of the 2 but it is increidble to see the impact that all of the freshman are having thus far.

Whoever was doing color commentary on BTN for the Iowa game Saturday said, if you're a top recruit who particularly likes to share the ball, then B's system is perfect for you.

While whomever he is, he's a douche (he works at BTN), I'm sure that sentiment hasn't been lost on anyone else ... like Big Dog, or Tim Haradaway Sr., or Mr. Horford, etc etc...  Coach B's offensive system is proving to be a magic elixir for skilled players, and you can only think that as we move forward with our brand new arena and PDC, plus virtually NBA teams, this is going to be a snowball that just gets bigger and bigger.

And crushes Sparty on the way.

So, we have 44% of all "Of The Week" honors to date. I can't say I object to that pace at all, especially when the next nearest team has picked up 3 (one Player Of The Week and two Freshman Of The Week honors for MSU). This is simply a phenomenal team and congratulations to this week's honorees.

...Spike Albrecht and Caris Levert!   Let's go 5 for 5 on the Freshman-of-the-Week Award.

BTW, I have been pleasantly surprised by Levert's shooting.  Looks like he can potentially be a 30-40% 3-point shooter - and I didn't think that was possible the first few times he shot the ball earlier in the year.   He's gathered himself nicely and hasn't rushed the 3-point shots in the past few games.   Pleasant, pleasant surprise.

To throw a smidgen of the-always-unpopular objectivity into the debate, these selections may not always be landslide picks:

Gary Harris (Freshman, MSU) went 6of8 behind the arc (75%!!) en route to 22 points in their game vs Purdue.

AJ Hammonds (Freshman, PUR) had 20 points, 7 rebounds, 3blks (was a big factor in Nix and Payne going 3 of 11). This kid was only a 2 star recruit.

Obviously, I'd still give the nod to GRIII because of the double-double but damn are there some outstanding freshmen in this league.
